Burger Barn served up an incredibly delicious burger at a record slow pace!

Burger Barn is CASH ONLY.

We stopped at Burger Barn on our cycling trip down the LVRT after hearing really good things about this spot from the locals. We started our trip at the very west end of the LVRT and figured we would use Burger Barn as our mid point, grab some food, then head back the way we can to finish our ride. We arrived mid afternoon to a busy establishment, placed our order (a bacon cheeseburger and an Ethan Allen Burger) and sat at a table to wait.

We were prepared for a little wait, as we read reviews here and were told this place was pretty popular, but we weren’t quite ready for the nearly hour and 10 minutes between ordering and receiving our food. We have waited longer at other establishments for our food, but this is pretty close to the top of the list.

This being said, the burgers were hot, very fresh, and VERY tasty. When compared to all of the glowing reviews, they absolutely deserve the praise they get and find themselves somewhere in the top 10 burgers I’ve ever had. They are absolutely great burgers.

The quality of the burgers alone would make this review 5 stars, but I just can’t bring myself to ignore the 1 hour+ wait. I definitely understand that this is a very popular spot, the ingredients are fresh, the food is made to order, but we had 6 or 7 orders in front of us, not 15 or 20, and the whole experience was over an hour and 45 minutes, which made our ride home a little rushed to beat the sunset. Would love to see the wait time reduced without sacrificing food quality, if that is possible, but until then, I HIGHLY recommend you plan for a very long wait, especially if you are cycling the LVRT and intending on hitting this spot up during your ride. If you can handle the wait, you’re in for a treat!

I’ve grown up in Fairfax and had to take my friends that were visiting to my fav place, Burger Barn They LOVED it (I knew they would). Each of us got a different flavor, we loved choosing from the iconic options like “Ethan Allen” (one of my favs) and nutty for goat. The beef patty itself is thick and they are incredibly generous with all burger toppings. The French fries are also delish. 10/10!!

This place was a gem while passing through VT on our road trip. Fast service, good quality food, and affordable prices! We got the Farmer egg sandwich, a cheeseburger, and fries (all pictured). The french fries were reminiscent of Five Guys, with large, overflowing portions and similar appearance.

Insane Ethan Allen burger!!! Up there as one of the best burgers of my life. The cranberry sauce is so creamy, mixed with the crunch of the apple, and fresh beef. Everything about this was so unique and incredible, please get this! Also got the garlic cheeseburger which was fairly good but got nothin on that Ethan Allen. Recommend trying their more out-there burgers than the traditional ones, as this spot is too good and creative.

5 stars!

Amazing burgers! They use such high quality ingredients and it makes such a difference. Everything was fresh an delicious and well worth the bit of a wait. I can’t wait to go back and try the other ones I was eyeing! Their unique options are so cool to see. I got the prosciutto, brie and apple burger this time.

Ate here right when they opened at 11am on a Thursday. We were the first to order, so we didn’t have to wait long for our food. They started to get busy quickly after we placed our order. Burgers were delicious (we ordered the Hash and Ethan Allen). Fried pickles were also good. ***CASH ONLY as of 10/2/25. This impacted what we ordered because we weren’t carrying a lot of cash.

Picnic table dining was perfect because we were able to have our dogs with us.

Delicious! Worth the wait. This is an outdoor “food truck” with picnic tables (most with umbrellas). They had so many options with cheeses and flavors. I had a local burger with apples and Brie. The window person was very friendly and took our order right away. It was busy considering it was early afternoon. Highly recommend this place.

First, this is a cash only place, so come prepared. The food is amazing and the menu is huge guaranteed to satisfy everyone in the house or car. . The beef was fantastic, super fresh, and amazing flavor and cooked to perfection. The service was really friendly and quick even though they were getting slammed with customers. It is usually busy during the day, but it is worth the wait. I highly highly recommend stopping here if you’re in the area or just driving through. I had the Greek burger, and my wife had the reuben burger.

I can’t even begin to describe to you how GOOD these hamburgers are. Throw away everything you think you know about a “good burger” because Burger Barn will exceed it all. Don’t think that, just because it’s a little hut on the side of the road in teeny tiny Jeffersonville, it can’t make good food – you’d be sorrowly mistaken! They make the BEST hamburgers I have ever eaten, and I have had burgers all across the world from Iceland to Zimbabwe to French Polynesia!!

The most unique thing about Burger Barn is their MASSIVE selection of hamburgers. They have more than almost any other place I’ve ever seen, and even more impressive, they have fresh ingredients that would be hard to keep stock of even in full-on restaurants! Considering how many local suppliers are in the area, you can guarantee they have some of the freshest ingredients out there, and by taking one bite you can immediately tell. Burger Barn’s food tastes GOOD, like REALLY good, and this is my opinion of some of their items:

We have gotten many different food items over the years, including: Reuben Burger, Bleu Burger, Bleu Royale, Ethan Allen, Ira Allen, Hanna’s Montana, Samuel de Champlain, Tuscany, Nuts About Thai, Breakfast Burger, Nutty Goat, Southern Cross, and El Alamo. This is just what I remember – we’ve also gotten their fries, onion rings, fried pickles, fried mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms, and I guarantee I’m missing a lot! Everything is exceptional, but the burgers we keep coming back to over and over are the Nutty Goat, Southern Cross and Samuel de Champlain. These are absolutely incredible, and again, I put even put into words how good they are. Do yourself a favor, get maybe one or two of these, and call it a day. They also have exceptional fries that rival any of the best fries you’ve had before. Maybe get a creemee from The Cupboard across the street afterward because they have the best creemees as well. That’s the perfect lunch/dinner combo!

In terms of other info, there is plenty of parking in the big lot outside Burger Barn, there is seating at some benches (but they could be full, so expect to eat in your car at peak hour), and they have napkins, but no hand washing station, so it might be a good idea to bring wet wipes because the burgers are BIG and MESSY and AWESOME! I just love this place so much and they deserve all the business the get. This place needs more attention. Come here for some of the best “fast” food in Vermont, and everywhere, you’ll ever have!

Awesome road side burger stand! Worth the trip over Smuggler’s Notch if you are in Stowe!

Cash only? Burgers are perfectly seasoned and cooked. A ton of add-on items as seen on the extensive menu.

Friendly and helpful staff, especially if you have food allergies.

Can be a long wait, so budget extra time. Several picnic tables on site for ‘dine-in’ customers.

A gem in Jeffersonville!
