This was such a fun & delicious adventure. We had a malt (best we ever had) but don’t fill up on that. The chili dog, onions rings & fries were amazing ! The burger was excellent as well. But the fries and onion rings were out of this world ! Old school diner/burger, def worth your time. You can belly up to the counter to go back into 1942

This was our first trip to Bristol, and the Burger Bar was high on our list of places to try. Once you see the outside, you immediately know you’re about to step back in time. We had read many reviews, so our expectations were high, and we absolutely loved the retro interior.
The burgers were delicious, as were the fries and onion rings. However, the best part of eating here was the service. We travel a lot, and this was by far the friendliest server we have ever had. A special thanks to Riley for making this such a great visit!

This was our first visit and we will be back for many more. The food was excellent! I really appreciate them keeping to the original layout of the restaurant. It adds so much to the experience. They also offer turkey and veggie burgers which can be substituted for any menu item instead of beef. The food came out quickly and made fresh. Great place!

Great historic diner that opened in 1942. What a blast from the past. Love nostalgic places like this and the food did not disappoint. Everything cooked to perfection and flavorful. Our server was extremely efficient and friendly. Just an all-around great place. We’re definitely go back when in town and try something new.

While driving through town, I noticed an old-school-looking burger joint. Curious, I quickly checked the reviews while waiting at a nearby traffic light and, seeing they were quite positive overall, decided to park and give it a try. The ladies working inside were extremely friendly and helpful, which was a great start. Their menu is incredibly unique and fun, featuring a wide variety of amazing burgers. As a fan of spicy food, I was pleased to see several options that catered to my taste.
My server took the time to explain how they roast hot peppers to create their own unique blend, which I found very impressive. I decided to go with the Cold, Cold Heart burger, primarily because it included jalapeños. Although tempted by the Fire God Burger, the combination of scorpion and ghost peppers seemed a bit too intense for me.
My burger was prepared quickly while I watched from the counter, which was a nice touch. The fries that accompanied it were excellent—slightly thicker than regular fries with a delightful seasoning. They were served piping hot and crispy.
The highlight was definitely the burger itself. It was outstanding! The jalapeños added a lovely flavor without being overly spicy, and the bun was exceptional—soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart. The meat was substantial and perfectly cooked. For condiments, they offer squeeze bottles from the fridge upon request. I opted for mayo on my burger and experimented with ketchup and mustard separately to see which I preferred. Honestly, the burger was delicious with or without the additional condiments.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would highly recommend stopping in. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in town!

I typically love a classic juicy greasy burger joint. But this was bad.
$17.50 for a bacon burger and sweet potato fries.
My wife got the Mormon burger with onions rings. Nasty!
Meat is pretty tasteless.
Onion rings were mostly bread and tasted like old grease.
Same for sweet potato fries.
Kitchen or perhaps the waitress messed up the order. I ordered my burger with no onion. and I was served the Onion rings not fries and my bread soaked up all that nasty onion grease
Don’t waste your $ here.
And the $6.32 in VA Meal tax and fees.

Absolutely the best Reuben I’ve EVER had. The sauerkraut wasn’t too overpowering, which can ruin a Reuben very quickly. Also, wasn’t greasy at all, which also can ruin them for me. Exceptional quality and taste! Highly recommend you try it if you haven’t!

When you walk in the door it looks very small inside. There’s a bigger dining room off to the right. The burgers were amazing. The fries and onion rings were amazing. The service was spectacular, a really great place to eat. I would recommend ten out of ten. Definitely will be dining back here

Excellent option for old time diner feel. Reuben was delicious. We also tried the Parmesan fries and onion rings. Shakes flavors seem to be endless. The rootbeer float shake and the chocolate mint were two tried. We also had a cherry berry float which was delicious.
The service was outstanding and it was fun to watch the food get prepared.
There is seating on stools at the counter along with booths and some tables outside.
