Thin crust pizza was ok, crust is not really NY style, but the ingredients were fresh ($21). Garlic knotts were fluffy and fresh, there were 6 of them came with sauce for $7.50. Beer is kind of pricey at $8.75 for a pint. It was busy on a Sunday and had nice seating inside and out. The staff were friendly, nice place to try on a sunny afternoon.

I love this spot! After hiking around Torrey Pines this is a great spot to swing by for lunch. They have a menu board in front which tells you the price for 1 slice, 2 slice, and then if you want a combo (add a drink). The workers were really kind and took the time to ask questions– like if you wanted to eat in or take out, if you want any drinks or anything else, etc. Something to note is that they have the pizzas displayed and you point to which one you want and then they heat it up for you. Although, sometimes it can be confusing since there are no name tags or descriptions near the pizza — so for the ones that aren’t classics, you’re basically describing to them what you want (which takes a bit longer).
I have had the caesar salad once before, but at the time I went the caesar dressing was super oily. So, if you do order a salad, I would recommend choosing a different dressing. I did like how fresh the lettuce was and the amount of croutons they gave. I also had tried the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and it was delicious! Would reccommend this! When I had 2 slices it cost me $8.50 and the Small Caesar Salad cost $8. In the end, I probably wouldn’t get the salad again since the pizza was a better deal and price.
Today, I just went with 1 slice of Combo Pizza. I like the dough and how it’s thin but with a nice chew to it. The sauce is flavorful and herby. I liked the sausage that was on this combo pizza. The combo pizza comes with mushrooms, sliced onions, sliced green bell peppers, black olives, pepperoni, and cheese. It cost $4.25 for 1 slice.

Buonasera New York Pizzeria Torrey Pines finally open and I’m excited to have great New York style thin crust close by! Great views from the bar and eating area to Torrey Pines Lagoon. Fresh hot pizza by the slice or whole pizza is delicious. Meal deal 2 slices and a drink is there specials. Antipasti looked great and will give that a try next visit. Don’t forget to try the Gluten Free Pizza, the crust is crispy and the best I have tried so far!

The best things about Buonasera are the location and the crust. It’s right next to Torrey Pines hiking trail and the crust is perfect. A lot of NY a style pizza make the crust sooo thin where the toppings lay that the pizza falls apart while you’re eating it. This place makes it perfect. Also, I saw them make a sandwich and it looked sooo delicious. I will order that next time. I also ordered the chicken wings and I liked the flavor of their buffalo sauce. It was nice that it wasn’t the standard Frank’s buffalo sauce.

Pretty good pizza, good service, beautiful and clean restaurant.
Good location and value for Del Mar right by the lagoon and near Torrey Pines State Beach. For NY Style Pizza, it is not quite as good as the Bronx in Hillcrest, but it is close enough in quality and price to make it a permanent fixture for many years and maybe decades to come.
Cheese Pizza 4/5
Pepperoni Sausage 4/5
Chorizo Jalapeno Meat 4.5/5
House Salad 5/5
Caesar Salad 4.5/5
Value 4.5/5

Had a couple of vegetarian and pepperoni slices with some draft beers on a rainy, chilly San Diego Friday, sitting out on the patio. The setup is basically self-service. We ordered and picked up our slices ourselves, then sat near the bar for the beers. Ended up paying about $40 for 4 drafts, and I’m guessing the pizza was another $40+ (my buddy got those).
Overall, the place is decent. The staff are polite and attentive when they’re around. Since it’s mostly self-service, I’d say the service is a 2/5.

Excellent place to get a great slice of New York Style Pizza! And you can’t beat the price!
*Edit – I have been here 4 times. Every single time they have burnt one or more of the slices I ordered and not been able to replace it with the same type of slice. Pizza is good, people are nice, attention to detail is clearly lacking which is very frustrating.

I had been waiting patiently for this NY style pizzeria to open and to give it a try. I’m originally from Long Island, NY and always on the lookout for the thin crust foldable slices like I grew up eating. Today, returning from a mountain bike ride I saw the sign that lured me in. $9 two slices, drink and garlic knot, tax included. I had a slice with bacon, gorganzola cheese and pepperoni that was amazing. Beer and wine permit pending. Simply delicious and somehow familiar. Turns out that this is owned by the owners of Bongiornos in neighboring Solana Beach! My favorite local pizza! Javier, introduced himself and told me that he had been at the SB pizza place for 20 years! The menu here is the same. And what a view! The Penaquitos lagoon and the Pacific ocean! Just go!
