My partner and I visited Buona Sera last evening. We enjoyed the food, it was good- nothing super exciting. But, we felt that there was a huge miss on our server’s part by failing to mention prices of items. Our server listed the specials to us for the evening and my partner ordered her recommendation of the Surf & Turf with the Filet Mignon. We knew this menu item was going to be more expensive. But, our server never shared the price. We didn’t know the price until we got our bill. The price was $70, which caught us off guard as the rest of the menu items were all under $40. We know mistakes happen, but that’s a pretty penny to pay for what the quality of the dish was… and considering the cost of the other menu items. Specials usually aren’t any more than $10-$15 over the average price of a meal on a menu- I’ve been in the industry for 10 years and have never seen a rip off like we had. We probably won’t be back….just a bummer.

The atmosphere was fantastic! With a fire in the background and the best Italian on the table. The meal was perfect! We were taken care of gracefully by Stacy, she treated us like family. The fillet was the most tender, melt in your mouth, plate of godliness I have ever tasted! The halibut was on point with a cream I couldn’t soak up fast enough. Even their house bread was delicious. Best gelato in the twin cities.

The service was phenomenal! The waitresses were able to list off the daily specials in great detail and had such a bubbly attitude. We had the walleye cake appetizer which was very tasty. The entrees we ordered were good but not all that memorable. They do have a full bar and provided wine based on our request but it would have been nice to see a drink menu as they have a big wine selection. The prices seemed a bit high but the service and atmosphere made for a wonderful date night.

Got there an hour before our Saturday night reservation. Because they were not busy they seated us early. Our dinners; New York Strip & Spaghetti w sausage were perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned. The house Balsamic dressing & homemade bread made my salad delicious. Service by Lisa was also almost perfect; she was efficient n very friendly. And we enjoyed her recommended bottle of wine, the “wine specia” l,( ‘even though it was $60! )

Buona Sera is a great place for a date night. Quaint atmosphere, delicious food and friendly staff. Walleye cakes as an appetizer were great! And the butter toffee bundt cake for dessert was perfection!

Excellent Italian restaurant hidden away near the river. Service was prompt – and the server knew everything about everything! Pasta was hot and fresh and tasty. I ordered the veal and it was amazing.

What a gem! The place is intimate and feels like the Italian steakhouses I’d go to in St. Louis in the Italian district. Service top notch. The server treated us like regulars even though it was our first time. Fantastic wine selection and the server chose the perfect bottle for the table. Best filet of my life. Cooked absolutely perfectly and perfectly rare like I ordered. Everything comes with sides and salads/soup. We got one dessert to split and more to take home to husbands and they were all spectacular. So glad this place is in my options now and can’t wait to take others. We had reservations and pulled up thinking maybe we didn’t need them, but on a Tuesday the place filled quickly.

Celebrating a birthday with another couple who had been here before. Our waiter, Max was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the dishes and wine choices. Enjoyed hearing his descriptions of the entrees and specials. Calamari could have been a bit crispier but, still were very fresh and flavorful. We opted for seafood tonight with my partner’s Walleye Almondine scoring a big thumbs up. Very moist, thick filet wasn’t plastered with large slices of almonds so it accented the delicious fish instead of overwhelming it. Colorful bean and carrot side really made the plating pop. My Lobster Ravioli had a generous amount of delicious lobster pillows and a scattering of shrimp and scallops in a savory cream based sauce. The additional of the pesto was a great idea since it lightened the sauce a bit. Was extremely delicious and really wanted to lick the bowl! Seafoods were all perfectly cooked and Max’s Chardonnay recommendation was excellent. Only wish there was a bit of color on top. Maybe some minced red pepper and chives. A single medallion of lobster would have been super. The Birthday girl’s New York Strip was cooked to order and seasoning on point. Scallops were a bit small but, had a delicious garlic butter. Really enjoyed the attention given to plating here. Very evident with the desserts. I love the family feel to the place and really appreciated the effort put into making sure the guests have a great experience. Even had the head chef coming around to tables to chat. Had a wonderful evening and will be back soon. Very well done!

very nice restaurant – the staff is amazing! we arrived a bit early for our reservation and the place was pretty empty still, so we got to watch the staff enjoy each other and get ready for the dinner rush. Definitely an old school vibe inside with original recipes and menu offerings; we ordered Bruschetta, Steak Cacciatore, Zuppa de Pesce and had a house salad and a Caesar salad to go with our meals – bread service is also included when you sit down. We also order dessert (I can’t recall what mine was, but it was something along the lines of a mascarpone lemon cake) and the hubs got chocolate lava cake (which is something he is always on the hunt to find the best one); the cake was good but the lava cake didn’t have any ‘lava’, it was solid in the middle, which was a bummer, but he said it still tasted good.
