Im reviewing Bungalow based on my visit last night, a Friday fish fry during Lent. Prior to last night, I would have reviewed this restaurant far higher, and a “5 star” for Lent Friday fish frys that we’ve enjoyed and attended for years( usually at least twice during Lent!).
This year, we left disappointed. Our table of 4 ordered the fish special, as we have many years before. The fish we received were 2 pieces of fish that were each 1/3 the size of previous years! We looked around and saw that many other tables had fish and they were similar sized.
The special was “all you can eat”, so we ordered more. Each of us again received 1 piece the size of the palm of our hand! A couple of us had a piece even smaller than the original pieces. Each of us ordered 4 times and sat there for 2 hours.
This is not the experience we had before at Bungalow, nor do we want to experience it again. Along with the nonsense of ordering tiny pieces of fish over and over again, it created poor service, because not only was our waitress forced to repeatedly get us more fish, but she and all the waiters were running around doing that for everyone, so the service became very slow. It wasn’t their fault, it was the fault if this restaurant’s choice to try to cut corners by offering smaller portions at a very increased price for the special.
Previous years we didn’t even get a 2nd helping of fish, and were fully satisfied by the portion, and even brought some home.
Our foursome, who live in nearby West Lakeland, and Stillwater, will not be back for this special and will stop recommending it.
Disappointed, to say the least.

I really wanted to like The Bungalow since it’s so close to home and such a convenient spot. Unfortunately, the experience just wasn’t great. The service was so-so at best. It felt like any questions or orders were met with annoyance rather than hospitality.
I also overheard what sounded like a manager speaking to an employee about coming in late or possibly not coming in at all due to school, and the tone of that conversation was concerning. It just didn’t sit right.
It’s a convenient location, but beyond that, it’s not a place I would personally recommend. Overall, not the most friendly or welcoming atmosphere.

I had their Sunday breakfast buffet. Was what I would call a medium sized buffet, with plenty of options. They had a good selection of pastries/ cookies, four different meat selections, French toast, waffles, meat and cheese tray, plus your usual breakfast offerings. Will be returning and will recommend trying. Atmosphere I would call similar to a nice supper club, not to loud and vary comfortable. With a bar ,small game room, and fireplaces. Prices are vary reasonable.
Update….. as of today 8/24/2025 the Bungalow no longer has the Sunday brunch buffet. They still have a very good breakfast menu though.

It’s a throwback, for sure, but a Friday Night Fish Fry has never tasted so good! Fun cocktails, a great server (Claire), timely service, good food, and all the fun kitsch make it a great place for a fun evening. Ample parking. I’ll return — especially to check out their “new” patio in the warmer weather.

We have not been here for quite a few years. So happy to enjoy a great meal like we did in the past! Like everywhere else prices have gone up, but the food remained very good! We were with another couple who have never been there before and they enjoyed it very much and said they will definitely come back. They also commented on how it was not a noisey place, easy to have a nice conversation. The staff was wonderful and did a great job! We started with some dinner drinks, some were specialty drinks, hats off to the bartender. For dinner, we had BBQ ribs, very meaty and great sauce. Two orders of scallops, which were a good size and a good serving. Broasted chicken was a hit as well. Au gratin potatoes, soups, salads, and green beans, were great dishes to round out the meal. Creme brulee and apple crisp for dessert, worth the added calories . We all were very pleased! Keep up the good work!

Great supper club atmosphere, and great service. They have a huge menu, drinks and food! We had the prime rib and a 10oz sirloin. French onion soup was fantastic. Steak was lacking flavor, but overall, very good. Highly recommend the garlic mashed potatoes- some of the best!

we love the fun of the bungalow and the band on nye was so good. the bartenders were super aloof and downright bitchy – we spent a lot of money we’re curious and we couldn’t get arrested at the bar. I’ve worked in the service industry for 15+ years and they could sell so much more if they just were just kind. What is management doing to make sure they have bartenders that are respectful and kind. We know it’s busy but just be kind. Not our business experience unfortunately.

I’ve been here 4 times and everytime my party has ordered the ribeye and it has never dissapointed. Seriously a great steak every time and I highly recommended it! I had the Prime Rib sandwich tonight and it was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and extremely tender. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Plus if you’re a hockey fan, they always have a game on. Service was slow but it was busy tonight and they have a very friendly staff. Very kid friendly too, a game room, a nice kids menu and my 2 year old loves all the soups especially French onion. I’ve lived here for 5 years and I just discovered this gem of a supper club 4 months ago. It’s our family’s new go to spot.

Found this on the way to St Paul, MN for the Winter Carnival at the end of January. The waitress was attentive and the food was great. Located on the banks of Lake St Croix just off I94, this would be a place to have a dinner and watch the summer fun on the lake.
