Middlebrow has outstanding pizza. You know it’s good when you can eat a lot of it and don’t feel gross afterward. The crust is airy and soft, and you can tell they’re using quality flour. The balance of toppings, cheese, and red sauce is spot on. The sausage and olive pizza was just wow. We also loved the large salad.
The wine and beer selection was okay, but not especially memorable for us, which is why I’d take off a star. That said, if you’re coming for truly great pizza and not an extensive dine-in menu, this place will absolutely make you happy.

We called and they said it would be a 30 minute wait, but arrived 10 minutes later and there was none. This place is a few short blocks from my house and I’ve read favorable reviews about their pizza, beer and wine, so the lady and I finally made our move. We ordered the Hot Honey and Mushroom pizzas. They were super thin, medium-sized gourmetish pies. The Hot Honey was flavorful, the mushroom was lacking in flavor and kinda dry. We had glasses of wine to accompany the pizza Rose’s and Red Bubbles. Both were very tasty on the tongue, but shallow pours. We followed those up with Old Fashions which was a better drink value. Our tab was $155 for the 2 pizzas and 4 drinks. It was a good experience. The pizza was fun to watch being made. When it comes to flavors, ingredients and portions, there are many better Chicago pizza options out there.

This spot has a relaxed, neighborhood feel with a menu full of fresh and creative options. The pizza and small plates are especially good, and the beer selection pairs perfectly with the food. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a great place to hang out with friends. It’s an easy choice for a laid-back meal and drinks.

This is a laid-back spot with a cool neighborhood vibe. The menu features creative pizzas and fresh small plates, all paired nicely with their house-brewed beers. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it easy to hang out with friends over food and drinks. It’s a great choice when you want something casual but still full of flavor.

I was pleased with everything about my experience at the Bungalow. I bet the restaurant would be rated much higher if it was a stand alone breakfast spot.

I got the bagel with seeds and a scallion based cream cheese, which was delicious. You can tell they have their sourdough on point. We also had the maple miso donut, which was great if you can appreciate a sourdough donut.

5/5! It was great.

Real good pizza, reheated great as well. All home made ingredients which was awesome
They had nice outdoor section even in the winter with it being boxed in and still warm.
Really packed on the weekends, would recommend trying to get reservation or going to nearby bar while waiting for table which worked out well.

Bungalow by Middle Brow is hands down one of the best hidden gems in Chicago—and it might just serve the best tavern-style pizza in the entire city.

From the moment you walk in, the cozy, laid-back vibe feels like a warm welcome. The service was excellent—especially the bartender, who was not only friendly and attentive but incredibly knowledgeable. They offered great suggestions on what to order, even sharing a bit of the backstory behind the food.

Now, let’s talk about the pizza—because this isn’t your average tavern pie. The crust is perfectly crisp with just the right amount of chew, and every topping feels intentional. You can tell there was real thought and care in how the pizzas were made.

Beyond the pizza, the food in general is incredible. From small plates to entrees, everything was fresh, seasonal, and cooked with a lot of heart. You don’t always expect food at a brewery to blow you away, but Bungalow delivers way beyond expectations.

Whether you’re coming for the beer, the food, or just a chill evening with friends, Bungalow by Middle Brow is a standout spot that deserves all the love. Don’t sleep on that tavern pizza—it’s seriously next level.

The service was great. We loved all the pizzas especially the sopressata + hot honey. The crust was perfectly toasted for all three. We also liked theself serve vanilla sundae. It didn’t taste like the usualy vanilla sundae which made me like it more. It was just a bit loud that night so it was hard to talk to each other on yoir table.

One of the best pizza places in town.

I came on a Tuesday to finally try their thin crust and boy they did not disappoint.

I got a half and half pepperoni and veggie and it was a glorious experience. The crust was SO incredibly thin, crunching satisfyingly with each bite. Their cheese, sauce, and toppings are also delicious, making for an incredible pizza. For dessert I had the soft serve with a side of smashed berries and a double shot of espresso. If you’re looking for a simple vanilla berry sundae, this is it.

Food: perfect.

Service: fantastic.

Atmosphere: airy and bright, welcoming, invites you into the process (you can see the ovens and even sit across them).

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. I want to tell everyone how amazing this restaurant is! I’ve been here 4 times in the past year and I’m amazed every single time. The cheese pizza is the best in Chicago. Their soft serve ice cream is life changing. Their beer and wine selection never disappoints. Other dishes are so good and very inventive like the white anchovies and bread is absolutely divine, I could lick the plate. The service is outstanding. One of my top favorite restaurants in Chicago for any meal. I love this place ❤️
