Tried the bun man (fermented fish) noodle soup for the first time today, and it was an interesting-tasting dish. The fermented fish soup tastes like canned fish but with richer, more nuanced flavors, likely from fish sauce and shrimp paste. The soup is served with a piece of fermented fish, shrimps, fish cakes, calamari, pork pieces, and a heap of fresh vegetable garnishes. It’s not my favorite Vietnamese noodle soup, but I’ll still have it now and then to enjoy something different from the more common dishes. The server was very helpful, offering guidance on how to eat this dish with the accompanying dip and veggie garnishes.

I finally tried Bún Mắm Miền Tây in Bellaire and it was such a great experience. I ordered bún mắm, cơm chiên cá mặn, and bún xào thịt bò—every dish was flavorful, well-seasoned, and tasted truly authentic. You can tell a lot of care goes into the cooking; nothing felt rushed or generic.
What really stood out, beyond the food, was how kind and welcoming the owner is. That warmth makes the whole meal even better and gives the place a very homey, genuine Miền Tây vibe.
If you’re craving real Vietnamese comfort food with bold flavors and great hospitality, this spot is absolutely worth visiting. I’ll definitely be back!

This is the real deal for authentic Vietnamese “Lau Mam” fermented fish hot pot in Houston!
The broth is rich and delicious. The portions were massive and could have easily fed more people. The hot pot comes generously loaded with a great assortment of fresh protein (shrimp, fish, squid, pork belly) and a huge plate of fresh veggies. The interior is cozy and the service is friendly and quick.
Highly recommended if you love strong, authentic flavors! (Don’t recommend if you didn’t grow up use to viet fermented smells, try the Lau Thai might be easier)

The bún mắm here is delicious, the broth is rich and flavorful, and the toppings are fresh and generous. There was a bit too much broth for my liking, but it was still very filling. It would be even better if they offered a small dipping sauce for the toppings on the side. The restaurant is decorated mainly in purple, very cute. Staff were friendly and service was quick. I’ll definitely come back!
One thing to note: they only accept debit cards, cash (no credit cards), so just keep that in mind when you visit

Oh my goodness it not worth it. I order combos of pho but only I see is beef and meatball no seafood at all. Also the boba drink is not worth it. This pho restaurant way more expensive than the other pho restaurants. Also the soup is a lot but the noodles is too small. I do like the taste but price is not worth it. No straw cover and I can see the dust

Bun Man Mien Tay is the best Bun Mam restaurant in the Houston, TX area. This is the only place where I can enjoy eating Bun Mam. The broth is perfect and does not smell fishy. The service is always wonderful. The restaurant owner is a very nice lady, and purple is her favorite color; therefore, the entire restaurant’s decoration is purple. The restaurant is super clean, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes to eat Bun Mam.
They moved to a new location. Very beautiful restaurant decoration. Their bun mam is always delicious.

My mom and I decided to come here because she was craving a specific dish that this place happened to have. My mom did in fact enjoy her food and ate it all pretty quickly. I got egg rolls, they came in a pack of 4 and were really hot but good. You could tell this place is authentic because of the Asian people running the place. You could also tell by the smell of the place and a small shrine in the corner of the restaurant.
They had a large menu with many dishes to choose from. The place was also pretty clean and I liked the purple theme; even the woman working was wearing all purple. The food came out somewhat quickly-I had a little wait for my egg rolls but it’s okay.
Overall a good place to eat and I think I would go again.
