Rich flavourful broth in the Bun Rieu, and the noodles are smooth and have a nice bounce in texture when biting into. Salad rolls are decent, spring rolls have a nice crunchy exterior but the filling isn’t my personal taste; I think it’s more taro/starchy interior than a meat filling, but I think this is just my personal preference coming through. Price is alright, but maybe feels a little on the higher end for pho noodles. Overall a solid place to go to, as I think the crab based broth is quite special and delicious.

Exactly what you want your neighbourhood pho place to be. No frills, clean tables, great service and good food. I’m a big fan of the done-ness of the tendon in their pho (soft and bouncey without being chewy). I also like the addition of taro in their spring rolls.

I felt bad bringing my stroller inside since it’s not super spacious, but staff was so friendly to me and my baby, and even holding the door open for me.

Make sure you bring cash or your debit card.

There are selections of noodle bowls that you don’t normally see at other Vietnamese restaurants. Food was overall very salty. Will try the other location in Vancouver south too.

I was so excited to hear that Hoang Yen opened their second location on Kingsway! The Victoria Drive location will always be OG but this location is also very convenient because it’s across from the Metrotown mall.

Prices have increased at both locations but you’re getting a big meal! My favourite all time is number 23. It’s so savoury and if you love a seafood crab broth this is the ultimate one, Bún Rîeu.

Locally owned. Tasty quality food. Friendly and efficient staff. No dissatisfaction here. Just happy smiles with basil and chilies stuck in between our teeth

TL;dr: food is good but a bit salty, big portions, great service

Food 4/5:
We tried the crab pho and the shrimp papaya salad. The portion was pretty big but the pho was way too salty. The papaya salad was delicious and tasted super fresh with a generous amount of shrimp.

Service/Atmosphere: 5/5:
We were seated comfortably and there was no wait time at all around dinner time. Our server was extremely accommodating and attentive to our birthday group.

Overall I would recommend everyone to try this place. I can’t speak for their other pho noodles but their crab soup and papaya salad were a solid 4/5!

Food: 5/5 – they have a good selection of menu items for dinner. They also offer a couple of combinations for a few dollars extra. We had the beef pho plus the rice vermicelli with chicken. Both were decent portions and tasty.

Service: 4/5 service was good. Note: only cash or debit is accepted. They are closed on Tuesdays.

Atmosphere: 4/5 – nice and clean place

It’s one of the few Vietnamese restaurants that I had to wait for but I can why it’s so popular. Everything was so fresh and tasty and the portions were huge. One thing to note is that they only accept cash or debit cards so keep that in mind when you go!

The restaurant wasn’t too big, but it was very clean and the servers were very friendly and accommodating.

I got the fish cake & vermicelli in soup with some spring wraps and it was phenomenal. I also highly recommend the crab soup as well! A surprise hit for us was the fried squid which was hot out of the pan and was a good appetizer for the noodle soups.

Overall, I am eager to go back and try other menu options and I highly recommend this place for anyone who likes or would like to try Vietnamese food!

Super good food. The beef pho was phenomenal, along with the crab pho that the waiter recommended.

The other appetizers and dishes were also very delicious. Definitely go for the fried chicken wings and the fried squid! After eating a bowl of beef pho along with a few sides I was full. Prices were quite reasonable.

Servers were very friendly and even took their time and gave us great recommendations.

Would definitely come back again!

Went for the opening. 15% off for 2 weeks starting 28 March 2024.

Food: Ordered the House Special, number 7, and Special Crab Soup, number 23. Flavour was alright. Broth for the house special was light, herbal and relatively flavourful. As you can see in the photos and video, the broth is clear and relatively not greasy. However I felt it was slightly salty and it left an odd aftertaste after the meal.
The special crab soup was good, just bursting with flavour, egg and crab mix were just right, but the ingredient portion seems to have been reduced slightly as compared to their original location, and their expanded location along Victoria Drive.

Service: Good. Jessica, the owner’s daughter was going to each table to apologies for the delay on bringing out the food but we felt it wasn’t that bad, given it’s a new location and their first opening day.

Price: Approximately 17 to 18 per person before tips and with the promotion.

Would I recommend: Yes. Pho is always recommended. Especially since they’ve got a specialty that can’t really be found in other Vietnamese restaurants.

Parking can be a bit of a pain though as there’s only street parking.

I will come back. That is a wrap up overall for this restaurant. Going into more detail: the quality and quantity of foods are awesome. The service is on point. However, I did not like the fact that I have to squeeze myself and share my table with other customer because the restaurant front space is narrow. You try to put more table on the floor and indirectly you squeeze us in the room. Line up is about max 20 mins.
