I highly suggest the Himbeer Platzchen (raspberry, banana, cookie butter) and Okay Dad, Here It Is (egg, bacon, Munster, greens, hollandaise). Great combo to split with someone
Now about the food. Delicious!
I don’t think it’s very clear on the menu that what you are getting are Waffle Sandwiches. A full-size Belgian style waffle is cut in half and made into a sandwich. My son had “the Bullig”. My daughter had “That’s All”. My husband had “Just in Käse”. And I tried “Bee*Itch”. All of us ate every bite. My kids also enjoyed very frothy chocolate milk drinks with whipped cream, toasted marshmallows, and extra chocolate syrup on top. My husband ordered a cold latte style drink with just as much whipped cream and extras. All in all for the four of us with extra “fancy” beverages, we spent $100.00. This was a family treat, so it was worth the money. We wanted to support a local business and this one is very much worth supporting.
I have a couple of critical tiny things! These are just “ticky-tacky” details that are my opinions and certainty could be ignored and maybe don’t really bother others, so take it with a grain of salt:
1. I don’t care for the actual plates. I have never been a fan of flat pizza peels like plates. Ok. Please ignore that if you don’t really care.
2. When an individual with a handicap needs to use the restroom (my child did not need to, so this wasn’t a concern, but a thing I noticed) having any kind of object that partially blocks the full range
of the restroom door opening, such as a stack of high chairs, makes it so she cannot independently use the restroom without someone helping her. I truly understand that this restaurant is small and there really isn’t a “better” place to put objects, but it does force a lot of stalling. Here’s how it affects the restaurant–a person in a wheelchair must use the restroom. They see they can’t fully open the door. They must ask (either another patron or a worker) for help. This asking might cause embarrassment–for some individuals with a handicap they are so used to asking that they don’t get embarrassed, but it can be solved by simply never blocking the door. If a worker needs to stop to help, then business slows, albeit really just for a moment. And, noone is ever rude about helping, it can just be solved by not having the door blocked. This is truly a detail that is probably not solved because of the nature of it being a small restaurant and that’s OK! Truly!!
I know, I know, did I really have to point that out? It’s such a small detail. I only point it out because maybe it will help bring awareness and also maybe there is a better spot in the space to put things like high chairs. It’s the difference between 4 stars and 5 for me and my family.
3. It was a little challenging to find the entrance from the main road. I missed it once then realized it was in the same gated business plaza as the butterfly house. I didn’t realize that the adorable dog picture was meant to be for the restaurant. Oops.
I plan to come back with my family. I plan to enjoy every morsel! The waffle was just the right amount of lightness and sweetness (but not overly sweet). And the Bee*Itch is my new favorite sandwich!
What a lovely place to enjoy a beautiful SWFL Florida Sunday.
Friends and I usually order one sweet and one savory to split cuz we can’t just pick one
Seating is tight, outdoor seating is pleasant (but not when it’s raining). Order at the counter and they’ll bring the food out to you. Single bathroom for the whole place (wheelchair accessible). Dog friendly!
All the employees are very kind and helpful. The outdoor rating was perfect. Will definitely be coming back again! Make sure to stop on by and have some waffles and amazing coffee!
