Went here with some co workers because we were working nearby and the place was dispersing a delicious smell of smoked meat in the air . Rule of thumb “if a restaurant is empty at lunch time , there’s a reason why ” The pork taco was dry and the crust of the taco was like eating a fried Chinese egg roll the fries were absolutely amazing however the pulled pork sandwich was just ok …. last but not least…GET THE WINGS !!!!! I may give these guys another chance if I’m in the Columbia, md area .

Convenient, but nothing special.

Came here after drinking at the next-door Hysteria brewery.

Ordered a burnt ends sandwich. They’re hard to find. Priced seemed right for this cut of meat and came with a good amount on it. Came with Kansas BBQ sauce already on them, but got a side of the bullhead Chesapeake sauce, which was pretty good, but the burnt ends just were not the freshest I’ve had compared to other places I’ve had. Just not something I’d rush back to for.

They do have a bogo Monday which sounds like a great deal if you’re nearby and they’re not seriously skimping on the meat.

So disappointed in this company. I count myself as their first official customer when their brick and mortar opened. Tried their burnt tip sandwich (yes, a gimmick for lesser cuts of meat) yesterday but I received a 2 cent bun with ~ 6 pieces of meat for $12. No value for the money. Yes, the staff offered to add more tips after I complained but what reputable company fields such an inferior product upfront. And don’t get me started on “garlic fries” that have some garlic powder sprinkled on them. Again, disappointed and my business will be directed to the visiting food trucks.

Update: Hotdogs are delicious.

Absolutely love the food and staff here. The tacos are amazing, you can’t find anything else like them. They’re also amazing the next day (if you have leftovers). The mac and cheese hits the spot every time, sometimes I like to throw one of their many hot sauces on it to spice things up. Also love when I’m attempting to watch my diet I can just get a “pile of meat” and it’s always delicious.

My pitbeef sandwiches were severely OVER cooked and we’re not edible. We ordered black beans and were given white rice. We ordered 2 burnt end tacos but never received them. The pulled pork was average at best. Extremely disappointed.

I would give it one star for the last 3 visits. But they have a past that I cannot discount. The new staff has been wildly inconsistent. My last 3 visits have been completely disappointing.
One Thursday it took 50 minutes to get two sandwiches, a taco, two orders of fries, and a salad. After purchasing the order, I was told there was no more salad and no one knew how to refund me. 50 minutes later I left with my food, but without the taco. This was forgotten. The owner did refund this purchase.
The 2nd to last time. The fries were so over salted they were in edible. They did replace them, but there was a sigh from the worker when I made my request for fries that were less salted.
The last visit I ordered a cheesesteak. The previous one from the visit above was pretty darn good. This time, it was not chopped up. It was cold meat. Cold cheese. On a toasted bun. With lots of barbecue sauce to make it a giant mess. I took it home. And I had to reheat the meat separately in order to eat it.
I understand the staff is generally new and younger, but they need to be trained for consistency. We’ve typically gone Thursday nights and sometimes Saturday’s, so we’ve seen it be a 5 star. I’ll update my rating if I go back and don’t have at least one thing wrong in my order. Currently, going to take a couple month hiatus and try other local places.

We ordered the 13 dollar brisket nachos, labeled as a Shareable aka appetizer for multiple people.

What we got was tiny, in a 3x5in small container about the size of your hand, about 3 bucks worth of nachos. This is a ridiculously small amount of food and isn’t shareable.

They also had no forks and offered them being a to-go service as a reason for not having forks, which makes zero sense.

Feeling pretty ripped off and misled.

Edit: staff response intentionally avoids the core complaint. We received about 10 tortilla chips worth of food. That’s over $1 per tortilla chips. Also, owner claims they would have happily resolved the issue, however other reviews make it very clear the exact opposite would have occurred. The simple truth is that this place charges an exorbitant amount for a tiny amount of food. The owner has a pattern of blaming the customers for their own shortcomings. That says everything you need to know.

When another customer complained about receiving hardly any food on the $9 order of nachos, which comprises of tortilla chips and cheese, the owner blame them for not ordering anything else.

Finally some authentic and hearty barbecue in Columbia! I went to Bullhead when they were just a food truck…and now thrilled to see they have a brick and mortar. But you want to know about the FOOD!! THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO FOR YOUR BBQ NEEDS!! Incredible food, personalized service, and also located next to a brewery of that’s your thing, as well! 10/10 recommend!

Had the pit beef sandwich with tiger sauce for lunch, was so good I had to get another sandwich for dinner.

The cheese steak is also great.

I want to like this place more- I go weekly to trivia next door. When Bullhead first appeared in 2020, the Big Pit Beef sandwich was tender, slightly pink, and very juicy. I had this awesome version about five times before things were just never the same. At some point in late 2021, I received a Big (dry, balled-up, overcooked) Pit Beef sandwich. I remember thinking that everyone has an off-day. Since then, I’ve ordered the Big Beef five more times, and it never changed again.

A couple years later, I’ve given almost everything else a try including the pit turkey, brisket, mac & cheese, burnt ends, Bullrito, tacos, and cheese steak. So far, I’ve found nothing to enjoy as much as the Big Pit Beef.

Stop by next door for some delicious beer!

Edit:
I think it is important to note that in the 15 or so times I’ve ordered here, I had my order taken by a friendly young man or woman, and was never once approached by management for conversation. I always ask for medium or medium-rare meat. I was never once asked how the food turned out. As much as I try to help small local businesses, it is hard to take the owner’s angry reply seriously- blaming the consumer for not liking the food rather than attempting to improve and build a relationship.
