Stopped by Bull & Claw in Wells, Maine during our coastal trip and had an unforgettable experience. We ordered their monster “Lobster Lover’s Lust” two‑foot lobster roll (yes, two feet!), along with cocktails and side dishes. The lobster was super fresh, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed but polished. The menu also includes great options like maple pork chops, seafood platters, and a well‑stocked salad/soup bar. If you’re visiting Wells, or just love bold seafood meals, this spot is a must. I’ll be returning.

Mixed bag. Prices vary wildly. A $36 personal crock of Lobster Mac-n-Cheese to a $16 single small portion pork chop. Lobster Mac and My Blackened Prime Rib were highlights. Asian salad with canned pineapple (not fresh) along with small fried Chicken Bits was underwhelming. Small boneless pork chop was thin and dry. Applesauce in the side helped.
Expected more from food but service was biggest issue. Our server seemed distracted and a bit ‘ditzy’. Several times she walked off in the midst of taking our order.
Every business deserves a second chance, but this was our first visit and will likely be our last, as this has only been our 3rd trip to Maine. Lots is options so why return to give a place than under performed a second chance .

I’m not even going to go into detail on how absolutely HORRIBLE this place is!!! Food sucked. Service sucked. Atmosphere sucked. And I got food poisoning from here as well, ruining my vacation.
If you read my other reviews, you can see that I’m not one of “Those people” who nit-pick and complain about things, so believe me when I say that I would rather have gas station sushi before EVER eating at this abomination of a so-called restaurant!!!
In conclusion, avoid this place like the black plague!!!

Everything was SUPER EXCELLENT!!! Our waitress Brandi was fantastic!! No sooner did we get to our seat, she was there with warm rolls and a big smile!! GREAT EXPERIENCE!! She was actually kind enough to bring me a piece of incredible chocolate cake for my birthday, truly exceptional in every way. We’ll be back soon!! Can’t wait… it’s our new favorite place and people!!!

We have been die hard Warren’s lovers for years, and haven’t found a place close to it. Now we have!!! The salad bar was smaller than Warren’s….which was ok!! The choices were all fresh and crisp. For dinner we had the baby shrimp with rice and coleslaw; and the the baked stuffed haddock with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Both entrees were hot and cooked to perfection!!! Our servers was training and she did an excellent job!!! We definitely will be back!!

Friendly host sat us at our table. After a bit the super nice waitress came took our order. After getting our salad from the salad bar the Friendly host walks by our table and says to our waitress did she take our order. The waitress said yes why and the Friendly host says oh ok I thought they just helped themselves to the salad bar because they didn’t have drinks. Maybe a better approach would have been to stop at our table and say I see you don’t have drinks have you been waited on instead of being rude insinuating we were ignorant people! Then my fried clam strips came and let’s just say I sent back! The clams looked and felt like rubber and the breading wouldn’t even stick to it. Disgusting! So I nicely said I’ll have the haddock instead. I get the haddock half was great the other half was dried. Husband’s meal he needed steak sauce for his steak as it had zero flavor. Never got asked if we needed refills until we were waiting for our bill. The 70 dollar bill came and still had the fried clams on it instead of the haddock. Not sure of the price difference nor did we ask because we wanted to just leave. We left our waitress a nice tip we were kind about everything. Though it was our first time at the restaurant and surely our last.

First time trying this restaurant. Food was better than expected. The menu is large, so it made us nervous about freshness. Our server was very friendly and she did a good job. The overall interior is a bit dated. The salad bar was fresh and inviting with a good amount of options.

During my work trip to Maine this week, I was recommended to visit Bull and Claw Restaurant in Wells ME. It was a super experience not only with the old charm of “Old New England” which locals visit all of the time, but the friendly atmosphere that is beyond above average!
My waitress Theresa was outstanding! Her smile and attention to detail left me wanting to write this review before leaving my seat. Food came out super fast. I was served very tasty warm roll with butter to start, and for lunch, I had their 8” lobster roll and clam chowder which both were delicious! They have a huge salad bar, may have to try it next time.
Everyone near Wells or surrounding towns should try this restaurant! It’s a must!

I had the prime rib and my fiancé had stuffed lobster tail. I ordered the bull and claw speciality cocktail. The flavor was great but not very strong. My prime rib hadn’t set before they brought it out to me thankfully while at the table I allowed it to sit. Imo it wasn’t quite medium. My fiance ordered the stuffed lobster tail.

Staff is very friendly. One of the few restaurants left with a salad bar.
I usually sit near salad bar, and staff keeps it well stocked and very clean.
I love the baked haddock newburg and thick cut maple glazed pork chop.
Plenty of parking and reasonably priced.
