Bull and Buck is a fantastic spot in Basalt, with great decor and seating at the bar, inside the restaurant, or outside during the summer! The menu is so good – the Chargrilled Caesar was one of the best I’ve had, even the cheeseburger was seasoned perfectly. My dining partners raved about their jackfruit tacos (vegetarian!) and Elk medallions. Highly recommend.

How could you not love this patio? The fried chicken sandwich is amazing. I can’t find the words to describe the venison meatloaf . Will definitely be back.

This place is awesome and deserves to be packed for lunch and dinner. The decor and attention to detail to place settings, glassware, plating is lovely. The food is creative and has excellent flavor combinations. Probably the best burger I’ve had…ever! The salads are really good. I also had the calamari. I was always too full for dessert but they sound equally original and delicious. Chad/Chaz? my server was attentive and pleasant. Even though the place was practically empty for lunch, this was the best dining I had in a 2 month trip to Colorado.

Love this spot. Casual and cool vibe. I got the rainbow trout with veggies and it was pretty delicious and light. The dish was cooked to perfection but a bit oily and could have used more seasoning and/or salt. The char-grilled Caesar salad was also really good and not too heavy. The only thing that could be improved is that I would have preferred a serrated steak knife for both meals instead of a butter knife. Excited to come back here and try some of the other dishes.

Basalt has a great new restaurant right downtown.the place is really done up well with a long bar and fairly open kitchen. Great staff super friendly and welcoming. The food is really yummy. From some cool starters like a poached pear salad to the grilled Cesar salad to the rock shrimp and crispy calamari they rock. Then there are dishes under the heading pub fare and mains. From a portabelo sandwich to fish and chips with amazing fries. And onto the mains which are great too. Fun cocktails to boot. We love this place.

I truly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant and very happy to see a new option for downtown Basalt. The service was outstanding and the decor is very welcoming. I’m giving it a 4 star because I think the menu is great, but the execution needs a little work. I would go back there because of the outstanding service and experience, but was not blown away by the meal.

We were up from Denver fishing at a cabin and wanted and wanted some lunch. I found this place and ordered the fish and chips. Was totally surprised to have Halibut instead of cod and it was done perfectly. The best fish-and-chips we have ever had and are still talking about it a week later!

Had our first meal at Bull and Buck last night and was very pleasantly surprised. Surprised because we have not heard much about it, but the former occupant (Free Range) was a favorite of ours and we wanted to try someplace new, so Bull and Buck it was and what a wonderful experience. Move over Free Range, there’s a new sheriff in town! The first thing I noticed was the very high quality and elegance of their service ware, particularly the water glasses, wine glasses and cocktail glasses. Very impressive for a “pub”, even an “elevated pub”. Lorra, our server, was delightful and knowledgeable. We all started with salads, and they could not have been better; indeed they were fabulous. My wife and friend had the goat cheese salad (fried goat cheese) and I had the burrata salad, which had been a favorite of mine at Free Range. Well folks, the goat cheese salad was marvelous and the burrata salad, a mere $13, was intergalactic. No exaggeration. Our entrees included the fish and chips (fresh halibut in a beer batter), pork tenderloin on the bone and the jaegerschnitzel (sp?). Each entry was terrific, well prepared and reasonably priced. This place definitely deserves your attention and a visit. I know for sure we’ll be going back, probably weekly.

Fancy and hip establishment. They have a few different happy hours to look into. The Grilled Caesar Salad was a highlight, the rest of the things we tried didn’t impress. Large bar and they have outdoor seating.

This is a fantastic new spot by our gente at Carbondale’s Brass Anvil. The menu offers something for all kinds, from poutine to flatbread pizza to jackfruit tacos to elk medallions and bone-in pork tenderloin, and the servers are just wonderful. Killer ambience and epic bar. A great addition to the Basalt food scene with truly inspired cocktails and elevated pub meals for typical and rather reasonable casual fine-dining down-valley prices. I went two nights in a row because I couldn’t taste enough in just one sitting! Thanks for bringing us your restaurant, y’all!
