Visiting my family in East Rochester, in from Texas, my husband and I decided to walk into town to find something to eat.

We stumbled on a wonderful little fusion joint called BUKU Fusion Kitchen. I wasn’t sure what to expect. What kind of fusion?

Looking at the menu I realized it was a real fusion treat! Fusing completely different cultures into one dish. I wanted to try EVERYTHING!

I got the Korzilla burrito and my husband got the Korean BBQ tacos.

Just, WOW! The food was delicious. The chips are dusted with a special mix and tasted amazing. The owners are very kind and answered all of my questions.

The menu boasts gluten free bread options when requested.

The owners are friends from high school who decided to go in on a restaurant together.

BUKU means WOW! in some parts of S.E. Asia.

It was a wonderful experience all around. 10 out of 10 recommend.

I ordered the steak gyro and the kor-zilla burrito and the order was ready in 2 minutes and tasted great. All workers were really friendly and outgoing. I will be back for sure.

Super friendly staff. Korean BBQ pork tacos were delicious and all the flavors and textures complimented each other nicely. The kettle chips were a yummy and unique tasting addition. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

The menu looked interesting and so my boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch. The staff was friendly and though there was a small mix up with our order, they went above and beyond to “make it right” with a free crownie. Overall a super solid little place with a fun menu. I appreciated them having a tofu option as well since I don’t eat meat. We’ll definitely be back.

This was not good. $35 on two sandwiches, two sides, and a cookie. Neither sandwich had any flavor whatsoever. The “crispy” sesame chicken sandwich was not crispy at all — the texture was rubbery and it was hard to bite through. There was zero trace of any sesame flavor, or any flavor at all for that matter. Huge ring of bread around the outside due to how much bigger the roll was than the weird chicken patty. It was unappetizing. The Korean burrito was also bad. The meat was tough and again every component was just completely bland.

They also run a weird little trick which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. A side of fries is $3, and they also charge you $3 to upgrade from chips to fries with a sandwich. So if you do the upgrade, you’re just losing out on the free chips. Not sure how this type of oversight could be made. Just make the upgrade $2, problem solved. When I ask the owner, he appears to either have never thought of this, or is upset that someone finally called him out on it. Neither is a good reaction to have.

The chips, fries and cookie were all basic, exactly what you’d expect. Sandwich and burrito were terrible. The little price trick pushed me over the line to actually write this review. Bad experience, wouldn’t recommend.

My wife and I have had enough food from here to leave an honest review, and it’s all fantastic!

Wife said the fish fry on Friday was the best she’s ever had, and the sesame panko chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I’ve had in a while.

Unique menu, super friendly staff, and the chips that come with the handhelds are really good, too. Food is always ready REALLY fast. A local place like this deserves the love!

This place was an unexpected quick lunch stop for my wife and I. Local business, great flavors… where the owners run the place and care deeply about the food and experience they’re creating… great takes on familiar flavors. I had some savory gumbo and my wife some excellent tempura shrimp in her firecracker veggie bowl.
Check it out… we’re going back

My husband and I dined here this afternoon, and wow! The food was delicious, the service was prompt and personal. We are so excited to have Buku in our town, we can’t wait to go back!
Of all the items we had, the tempura shrimp po’ boy was our favorite.

Korean tacos had a great flavor profile. You can taste the love and care in the food. Don’t pass up the crownie! I will be back to sample more of the menu.
