On Super Bowl night, after getting off work, I placed a takeout order for a 6-piece all flats with fries. Due to time constraints, I had to go directly to a birthday event after picking up my food. When I arrived and opened my order, I discovered that the wings were not all flats as ordered and had no sauce on them. Since I was already at the event, I ate the food and planned to address the issue the next day.
The following day, I placed a separate order and returned to the store to pick it up. While there, I calmly explained the mistake from the previous night and stated that I was seeking the price difference for the all-flats upcharge, as I did not receive what I paid for. Before I could finish explaining, the employee immediately stated that no Super Bowl orders would be replaced.
At no point did I request a replacement. I had already placed and paid for another meal. The assumption that I was asking for a remake was incorrect and led to unnecessary tension.
When the manager became involved, the response initially remained the same until I clarified again that I was only requesting a refund of the upcharge. The manager then minimized the issue by commenting on the small dollar amount and later stated that it was “hard to believe” the wings had no sauce. I found this response to be dismissive and unprofessional. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I understand mistakes happen; however, questioning a guest’s honesty rather than resolving the concern is not appropriate customer service.
I am disappointed by the lack of accountability and the assumptions made during this interaction. I am requesting reimbursement for the all-flats upcharge and hope this feedback is used to address customer service and communication practices at this location.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
