My husband ordered the brisket & coleslaw, I ordered the house tenders with spicy honey ‘que sauce, and we split an order of tostones (it was my first time trying them!). We felt like the quality of the food was really great.
The chicken tenders were definitely not pre-packaged frozen stuff from the grocery store…they were actual cuts of chicken that I’m sure were breaded & fried in house, they were very fresh. I also thought the cilantro lime aoili that came with the tostones tasted very good and fresh.
The brisket was very tender but it would have been nice if the BBQ sauce automatically came with it, as it’s kind of dry otherwise. Our server did bring us some BBQ sauce after bringing the food though so not really a big deal. The coleslaw was unique…it had a beer flavour which we weren’t expecting, but I’m sure if you like beer you’d love it.
The prices were okay, but maybe a little steeper compared to other restaurants. The mains don’t come with sides so any additional thing is an extra charge. We got 2 mains, 2 sides, and 1 drink which came to about $49.
The overall atmosphere of the place was very nice. It felt clean, bright, and fun. Our server and the bartender were both very friendly and attentive.
There is an option to order the food yourself when you’re at the table, which I guess some people might like but personally we felt it was unnecessary. If we decide to dine-in we prefer to actually talk to our server and place our order through them. It also would have been nice if physical menus were actually at the table instead of having to go up to the bar to get them, but we sat close to the bar anyways and it wasn’t busy, so again, not a super big deal. Could see that getting chaotic if it was busy though.
Overall I’d say we had a nice time and we’ll probably be back in the spring after the soft launch is over and it’s operating regularly.
We had ribs, wings, sausages, Tenders, Yuca fries, Mac and cheese, tostones, a couple of drafts, and cucumber salad .
Great serving sizes, and only thing missing was an ice cream sundae, (we overheard they also own the ice cream shop in town)
We definitely would have added milkshakes or a family sized sundae, but loved the visit!
