We wandered into Buenos Aires thinking it was a cocktail bar, and found an incredibly unique gem of a spot. When we said we just ate and wanted drinks, Luis set us up right away and the service was excellent. Throughout our stay, Claudia came to check on us and just made us all feel incredibly welcome. We’d been there fifteen minutes and already felt like we were at a friend’s cozy house. They have full dinner services, cafe style eats, a wonderful bakery, and space to quietly dine or launge with one of the many books available to just read if you want to. I left with two boxes of bakery goods and each one was outstanding, I can’t wait to visit again.

Loved everything about the whole experience. The empanadas were the best I have ever had, tender, flakey, flavorful! And the Matilda chocolate cake was a show stopper! Service was friendly, attentive and extremely helpful with explaining different dishes. Can’t wait to come back and try different dishes. The atmosphere is refreshingly authentic, enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend!!

Beautiful atmosphere and delicious beautiful food too. The service was so nice and friendly too. We all agreed we have to come again b/c we want to try everything. I recommend the Taste of Argentina variety plates. A lot of food and desserts included. They also have very tempting desserts to go. (I forgot to take a photo of the second plate before I shared some and ate some of it.)

From the moment you walk into Buenos Aires Restaurante, it’s clear this is not just another neighborhood restaurant — it’s a Michelin-star-level dining experience hiding in plain sight in Shawnee, Kansas.

The service and presentation are absolutely world-class. Every plate arrives with intention, artistry, and confidence — the kind you expect from elite restaurants in major culinary capitals. But what truly elevates this experience into something unforgettable is the owner herself, who came to our table and exceeded every expectation imaginable.

She personally walked us through the menu, explaining not only each dish but also the origin stories behind the cuisine, the cultural influences, and what flavors we should expect. Her passion is infectious. The menu is a beautiful, thoughtful fusion of Spanish, Mexican, Italian, and Argentine traditions, executed with balance and precision. Nothing feels forced — every bite feels purposeful.

From the appetizers to the main courses, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was layered, bold, and comforting all at once. When she described the food and desserts as “more than delicious,” she wasn’t exaggerating — that description somehow still undersells it.

And then there’s the wine. The Malbec selection is outstanding — varied, well-curated, and perfectly paired to the menu. Whether you’re a casual wine drinker or a Malbec devotee, every option shines.

Don’t overlook their lunch menu, either. The sandwiches and small plates are exceptional — elevated yet approachable — making this a perfect midday destination. And yes, they also offer an amazing brunch, which deserves its own visit entirely.

What ultimately sets Buenos Aires Restaurante apart, though, is heart. If you are fortunate enough to meet the owner, you’ll leave feeling genuinely touched. She is an authentic, gracious, and deeply passionate human being, and that care radiates through every detail of the experience.

This is truly a run-don’t-walk dining destination.
Please — put this restaurant on your list.
You will be blown away, and you will be grateful you went.

Whoever did the one star has no taste buds or soul, bless their heart.

Afternoon tea was so special! The food was amazing, included empanadas plus the traditional sandwiches, scones and sweets. The atmosphere is festive and fancy while being homey and cozy. Christmastime all around for December, highly recommend!

Delicious food, warm hospitality, and an inviting ambience — this restaurant truly stands out.

This was my second visit. I went with a friend the first time and immediately fell in love with this gem in downtown Shawnee. I was especially impressed by the passion of the owner, Claudia, for the food she serves.

Today, I brought 10 friends with me. We were treated to multiple courses of delicious food. The cherry on top was the dessert plate — the best chocolate cake and cheesecake in town.

It’s a perfect spot for a party of two or ten, an afternoon snack or a Sunday brunch, and an authentic Argentinian, Spanish, or even Italian meal.

This was probably one of the worst places I visited ever. Very small menu, mostly cheep ingredients and a very premium cost. My wife and I order the steak and it came with a salad or a potato not both. We ordered the salad and got a bowl of lettuce with some cucumber and tomato slices and that was it. No dressing or anything just lettuce in a bowl. The steak was ok but no idea on how it was cooked because there is no kitchen except for a microwave and some steam tables. There was no searing marks on anything, I guess they boiled it. I ordered a shot of whiskey and the only thing they had was Jack Daniel’s. 2 steaks 2 bowls of lettuce and one shot of cheep whiskey $100. The server was nice but had no idea what was being served. Even question that was asked she had to go ask someone and finely the cook came out to answer what was on the menu. Was going to order desert and over have of was was on the menu they didn’t have. Never again, what a waist of time and money. I would have gotten a better steak and service at half the price next door at Pegas

Open less than a month, this place is the epitome of South American charm and hospitality. The owner Claudia greeted us the minute we walked in and suggested a big booth up front. She was quick to point out all the little nooks in the restaurant if patrons want to have a leisurely game of cards or chess.

Before even looking at the menu, she suggested the Taste of Argentina option—an epic sampler plate of all of her favorites, including empanadas, chicken Milanese, Argentinian pizza and the list goes on.

After the fifth course of small plates, we were all stuffed. But the food kept coming, including her homemade raviolis. She finished us off with a smattering of her homemade cakes and tortes. Best $35 I’ve ever spent.

If you’re in a hurry, this isn’t the place for you. Everything is prepared to order, so our lunch was a leisurely two-hour culinary adventure.

I’m tickled to have stumbled across this place, a perfect mix of sweet and savory options. (And ladies, there’s a fab tea service, if that’s your jam.)
