We had the chorizo al malbec and the provoleta as a starter. Both were incredibly delicious and definitely on the bigger side.
We had the steak sampler as a main, which was insanely delicious.
But the real highlight was Angelo – best host ever. Hope he’ll be there next time we visit because we’re definitely coming back next time we’re in Reigate!
The 450g chateaubriand plus two sides was a good portion size for the two of us and the wine was reasonably priced as well. The meat was cooked exactly as requested (rare) and for the chateaubriand you get to choose from fries/chips etc, keeping in mind that because it’s a sharing dish you can get different choices if you have different preferences. We weren’t offered condiments for the fries but also didn’t ask. We had the chimichurri sauce, which was ok, but not really needed because the steak was so good, and next time we wouldn’t get it again for that reason. The chili tenderstem broccoli was also really good and the portobello mushrooms were as well. I’d have preferred smaller, sautéed mushrooms, but it was still very good. For dessert, the mango and passionfruit cheesecake was excellent and not too dense.
Overall a very good steak experience and we’d happily come back. The service charge was added automatically onto the bill.
The good points…
– Food arrived without too much delay
– Chicken in particular was very juicy
– All the meat was cooked and seasoned well
The not so good points…
– Fries were over cooked unfortunately and almost rock hard
– You would expect the kids pasta to include cheese but it didn’t. When we asked for some cheese it cost extra which again was surprising considering how much we paid for the whole meal.
– The rump had quite a bit of fat on it which we ate but could of been a bit nicer.
– Salad had too much raw onion and couldnt taste any dressing
– A medium sized bottle of still water was £5.25! I ordered this by mistake as thought I was getting tap water. Bonkers pricing!
– Chocolate fudge cake was nice although it didnt include any fudge sauce was ive seen in other photos and the portion of ice cream was very small (in a little tub). Next time just put it on the plate, it doesnt need a tub!
– The background music could of been a bit more lively – especially for new years eve
Overall, it was a nice family meal to celebrate the new year however I could tell this place was all about the money which was a shame as it gave a bit of a negative impression on the way out.
The bottle of Malbec was very nice.
Staff were attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
