Another spot after a day of baseball. We have heard so many good things about this place. We ordered the following:

Steak Sandwich – ordered by my sons, they liked the sandwich and mentioned it was cooked correctly (med rare)

Ribeye – this dish came with baked potato, asparagus. My wife ordered this medium rare. It also came with a side salad. Everything was good, except the steak was way over cooked. My wife told waitress to send back. They brought back another one and it too wasn’t cooked correctly. At the we had it removed from the check.

Blackened Halibut – overall good dish. It came with rice pilaf and asparagus. Only complaint is the halibut was a bit overcooked.

This place has a great charm and the staff is super nice. Will definitely try it again.

Service and atmosphere was very hometown friendly. Loved it! Our servers were very friendly and attentive and the rustic feel of the place was adorable. The food wasn’t as good for us though. The fries were cold when we got them – though they did taste like they would be good fresh. The French toast smelled divine, but the taste wasnt up to the smell. It was still good, but I was disappointed the flavor didn’t match the smell. The chicken sandwich flavor was good, but over salted and they were really thin, so overcooked. I did also get eggs and sausage patty and the eggs were cooked perfectly and I loved the sausage patty. Over easy eggs were beautifully runny!

This is my “go to” place for their buffalo and blue cheese salad! It’s just that good and it keeps me coming back. I have enjoyed other entrees too, this is a sweet little town, nice folks and down home food! What’s not to love!

I ransomly picked this spot on google, and i had no regrets. It was a beautiful, quiet place. I loved the ambiance and the service. We had no wait time, we were seated immediately we arrived. I ordered the ceasar Cobb salad, and it was great. My son had the mozzarella sticks from the appetizer. They paid attention to details on my order. If I drive through Dixon again, I will be happy to stop by for the salad.

Not only did I have the pleasure of eating lunch here with my mother and mother-in-law, but we also chose Bud’s as our caterer for my father’s Celebration of Life at the Olde Vets Hall. Cherie, the coordinator for the Olde Vets Hall, works through this restaurant for payments, etc, making everything super easy. We catered a lunch for the memorial, and the food was ALL excellent. We ordered Salad, Potatoes, Vegetables, Tri-tip with Gorgonzola Sauce (You could put it on a shoe and it would be delicious) Chicken in Lemon Caper Sauce, Veggie Lasagna (The leftovers showrunner for us, we have fed on it for days without flavor fatigue) Sourdough bread, and the berry pies for dessert.
We also opted to get a bartender for a cocktail hour, and everyone raved about the drinks! The servers were also very attentive, and kept water pitchers on the table full, and worked tirelessly to clear the tables when everyone was done.
Both Bud’s and the Olde Vets Hall are cool buildings.
The bar at the restaurant is stunning, with many mounted hunting trophies. The dark wood provides a historic California vibe that is really nice. The booths are spacious, and the waitstaff is friendly at table or bar. I couldn’t be happier with the quality of the food and the service, and the price, considering the MOUNTAIN of leftovers we will be feeding on until Christmas. Thank you to Cherie and the gang for making one of the hardest days for my family one of the best by the end.

A Heartfelt Thank You for an Unforgettable Experience

We held a Celebration of Life (34 people) for our beloved Joyce Tinsley.
The private dining area was perfect—comfortable, welcoming, and beautifully set up for our gathering. The food was delicious, and every detail was handled thoughtfully. What stood out the most was the staff: they were attentive, respectful, and genuinely committed to making the day special for our family.

During an emotional time, they gave us peace of mind and helped create a beautiful, memorable event that truly honored Joyce. We are so grateful and will always remember the exceptional service and warm hospitality we received here.

I highly recommend this restaurant for any gathering where you want both heart and excellence.

Went there with my friend. Loved the settings and service. Ordered pastrami sandwich. I had higher expectations. But it was OK. Nothing special.

Buds Pub and Grill is in the heart of downtown Dixon on the corner of 1st St & A St. Great location in a charming little town.
Outside tables in the shade on north side of building is where my dog LuLu and I sat on a warm June Friday. Plus 1 ⭐️ for being dog friendly. All the inside booths were full along with three outside tables keeping staff busy so that explains why we sat for ten minutes before anyone approached us. French Dip reviews ranged from good to fantastic so that’s what I ordered. It arrived quickly (10-minutes). No “set up” so I had to ask for napkins. No cutlery so I stabbed French fries with toothpick that was inserted into my sandwich. Ice tea hit the spot but no refill until I went inside and requested. Sandwich OK but a letdown based on reviews I’d read while waiting for service. I will come back sometime and try the steak sandwich which also has rave reviews. We’ll see.

Dinner was excellent! I had a piece of prime rib that was an inche and a half thick and it was cooked perfectly all the way through.

My lady got the rack of lamb, and it was really good as well. The best part of eating here was that everything was reasonably priced!

I would recommend you give this place a try.

I came to get cheeseburgers for my mother’s birthday. Only got cheese on 1 burger. I am an African American male. And I did not feel welcome in this place. I felt like they wanted to get me out of there as soon as possible.
