We rode the wonderful Banks-Vernonia rail-trail to Vernonia and wanted some food and drink before heading back. We just HAD to check out a pub with a name like “Buckshot Betty’s”…
We locked our bikes to a picnic table across the alley from the pub and headed in. The door handle is a shotgun The atmosphere was pub-like with several seating choices, including a nice bar. Good pub food and drink choices – we both enjoyed our veggie burgers, done up to our liking, mine with bleu cheese and an onion ring side. My wife had a vodka lemonade concoction and I had an excellent IPA. Service was friendly and swift. Mens bathroom was clean and has an interesting urinal…. I even added a T-shirt to my order

Went on a Sunday afternoon before rush hour.. was super cozy and the burgers were delicious. They had unique specials, and the staff was very kind and attentive. All around a great spot to grab a beer, watch a game, and grab a bite to eat. Will be back!

Went on a motorcycle ride and stopped by here for a break and a refresher. Didn’t try the food but menu looked great with reasonable prices! I thought the urinal in the men’s restroom was cool lol!

Great stop on a hot day. Our first time in but definitely not our last. We had a few rounds and some fries and watched awesome looking sammies and burgers leave the kitchen. The staff was prompt and professional and the locals friendly as we cooled down in the AC. We stopped in the afternoon and while busy there were still options for seating at the bar or at a table. Can’t wait to come back and have one of those club sammies and a few more drinks.

Our Sunday drive landed us in Vernonia and a need for some lunch. After debating pizza or a burger, we decided to take a chance on a burger. My wife liked the name “Buckshot Betty’s,” and the reviews were good, so in I went.
I was immediately met with a friendly “hello” and asked if they could help me. I asked for some take-out, and my order was immediately taken as I sat at the bar. I also ordered a drink, which came quickly and with a smile. The atmosphere was just my style…a hometown bar with great service and no BS. I watched the cook prepare my food as well as others…I could see the flattop from my position…it was very clean and well kept.
I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries for myself and my wife (out in the car with the dogs). I requested the burger be cut in half and the fries extra crispy. Not only did they cut the burger in half, they put each half in its own container, and the fries separate as well…with the ketchup and ranch I requested. I love it with my special requests are met, and they go above and beyond.
The current craze is Smashburgers, which I like, but it’s nice to get a good ole regular burger once in a while, and this one did not disappoint. Thick, juicy, cooked perfectly, with the bacon and onions adding the flavor needed. Service, atmosphere, and outstanding food…we will be back!
