Buck Burgers & Brew is a fantastic spot right in the heart of downtown St. Joseph. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere stands out—comfortable, lively, and welcoming without feeling crowded or overdone. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy good food, and actually hear the people you’re with.

The burger was excellent—clearly made with quality ingredients and cooked exactly right. Juicy, flavorful, and well put together, it’s one of those burgers you remember after you leave. The fries were just as impressive: hot, crispy, and seasoned perfectly, making them a great complement rather than an afterthought.

The bar service really deserves mention. The bartenders were completely on their game—friendly, attentive, and efficient, even while things were busy. Drinks were made well and came out quickly, which always adds to the overall experience.

The location is another big plus. Being right downtown makes it easy to get to, whether you’re walking around town, meeting friends, or just looking for a solid place to grab a great meal. Overall, Buck Burgers & Brew checks all the boxes: great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend it and will definitely be back.

We travel to St Joe often. We love it! This time Bucks Burgers and Brew was open. This is the Best place I’ve been to hands down! The atmosphere, it’s a clean place and we loved the upstairs area. The beer shrimp is the closest to the Chesapeake Bay I’ve gotten. The clam chowder was perfect and the chili was awesome too! Definitely found my favorite place in St Joseph. Thank you

60 years ago, in downtown St. Joseph, there was a dive bar called The Silver Dollar Cafe. Locals referred to it as “The Buck”, and it was one of the few places open past midnight that teenagers could go to hang out. Sticky floors, cheap drinks, and the occasional brawl all added to the experience.

The food was nothing to look forward to, with one exception: the fries. They were so good and popular that they were called “Buck Fries.”

The old Buck closed years ago and it eventually was reincarnated as The Buck. The sticky floors have been replaced by 3 floors of seating, including roof top seating.

The food is great, and most importantly, the fries are to die for. In fact the fries are the main course, order a burger as a side dish.

They also have the largest beer tap selection in town with around 40 beers on tap. During one of our visits, I was chatting with the manager about the taps. He explained how they are cleaned every week, and it takes a full day to clean them all. His passion for quality beer delivery was obvious.

The Buck is an essential part of the St Joseph experience.

My family and I tried this restaurant out. It was delicious. 2 of us had the mushroom Swiss burger. It was cooked perfectly. The meat was very fresh. We tried the wings and they were good . My husband had the beef sandwich. The cheese curds and onion rings were great as well. If you are looking for a great burger definitely try this place out!

The best burger we had on vacation!! So many options to choose from and they were very accommodating to our special requests. I would love to go back here again! Sweet potato fries were great and served with a cinnamon dip if you like that. Ranch was delicious too. Cheese curds were also great! Only item i would suggest to add to their list would be pineapple and a teriyaki sauce.

This was a really good place to eat. I had the Thornburger and my wife had the perch platter. Really good food. The service was excellent.

We were a little disappointed when we asked about the happy hour specials and we were told there weren’t any, even though the sign at the front of the door said there happy hour from 3-6. We mentioned this discrepancy with the waitress and she said the hostesses hasn’t erased it yet. This should be an easy fix and it would properly communicate what is happening.

I would recommend this establishment.

I’m a local. And this isn’t the spot for a local. You can never trust their hours. They consistently don’t work the hours posted online. Shutting off the kitchen or locking the door 1hr+ isn’t right when you never change your hours according to your work ethics. They should be called “Buck Burgers and Brew but call us and make sure we’re still working first.” Rain or shine there are better burgers in town and they are less expensive.

PS ask for your burgers to be cooked a little more red than you normally do.

Spectacular spot for lunch. Holley was one of the best servers we’ve had in a very long time. Food was delicious. Pricing was average. We had our young children with us and they sat us near other tables with children which was great. I look forward to returning.

Not impressed. Burger had no flavor and was full of grease. Took a bite and the grease ran down my chin and onto my clothes. The chips were bland as well. I also find it absolutely ridiculous that if you build the burger you want, it costs way more than one their menu burgers. Plus if you build the burger, you have to pay for chips, but they automatically come with one of their menu burgers. Only positive part of this experience was the server Michael. He was very nice and did a great job. I will not be returning

As a local, this is a hard no for me. Anytime someone who’s never been asks if we should go here, I always say absolutely not. I’ve never seen a place willingly serve a bowl of brown lettuce, spoiling veggies, undercooked chicken, and such consistently mediocre food – until coming here.
The service staff isn’t even close to being attentive, knowledgeable or helpful. There’s a high turnover.
The rooftop outdoor space is the only nice thing this place has going for it, but during busy season, it’s not even worth trying. Beyond that, it feels like a complete tourist trap with food quality that doesn’t match the hype or prices. There are far better options in the area.
