My fav Italian in Lancaster..… Amazing food. Very friendly staff. The girls had carbonara and said it was one of the best they’d had. We had pizza and a garlic bread….delicious. Lovely family meal for my daughter’s birthday. Thoroughly recommend.

Came a couple of times but every time seems to be at “a wrong time”
As someone married to an Italian, I have a deep appreciation for “the real deal”—the flavors here are genuinely excellent, and the commitment to high-quality ingredients is obvious. However, there is a point where authenticity stops being charming and starts being impractical.
The kitchen closes strictly after 3:00 PM to observe the traditional riposo. In Italy, this makes perfect sense; the midday heat is stifling, the streets empty out, and the biological clock of the country pauses. But we are in Lancaster. In here after shops closure after 5 pm the town is deserted
When it is 3:30 PM, 8°C, and raining sideways, that is exactly when people are looking for a warm, welcoming refuge and a plate of pasta. Sticking to a Mediterranean summer schedule in the middle of a Northern English winter feels less like a tribute to Italian culture and more like a disconnect from the local environment.
Authenticity should be about the soul of the food and the hospitality. When the doors are locked during the peak “grey and cold” hours of an English afternoon, it feels like the restaurant is prioritizing a concept over its customers.
We’d love to come back, but it’s hard to plan around a schedule that feels so out of sync with the local climate.

If you want to go to the Italy without leaving the Britain, Buccelli’s is that place. Fantastic atmosphere and delicious food being prepared while you enjoying your drink. The view through front window is remarkable too. Despite the fact it is in the centre of Lancaster city, surprisingly is similar to the narrow streets in southern european towns.

Absolutely stunning little restaurant, atmosphere was lovely and the servers were lovely. Food was absolutely divine, we had both specials for the starters and the pasta for main was so flavourful. All around lovely experience for a date night!

Lunch for 3, firstly the staff were absolutely lovely, polite and helpful. The brushetta funghi was beautiful, carbonara was authentic and the inferno pizza was well made and cooked and came with the promised heat . A very pleasant lunch, un rushed and tasty. Please don’t let your taste buds down by going to the Bella italia across the street it is world’s apart and far superior in buccellis.

The best Italian restaurant in the UK, hands down. My husband & I stopped in Lancaster on our way up to the Scottish Highlands, just for the purpose of eating here again. The food is impeccable & truly authentic. To start we had the bolognese arancini ball, which was just delicious. The pièce de résistance though was the carbonara. Made true to a genuine Roman recipe, simply eggs, pecorino, guanciale & pepper. High quality ingredients & the best carbonara you will ever have (we had it for the first time last summer & have been thinking about it ever since). For dessert we had the panettone bread & butter pudding, & the cannolo siciliano. It was the perfect end to a perfect meal. The service was incredible. We thanked the owner, Bruno & the very talented chef personally. We will definitely be back again!

Tasty pasta dishes, friendly service. I felt the restaurant was cold, also the portions are modest. Saying that the food is tasty so we would probably return.
