This experience was really disappointing for me. Buccaneer Pizza used to have sentimental value. It was the place my family would take me to when I was younger, even before the ownership changed. So whenever I decide to order from here, it actually has sentimental value.
Unfortunately, the ordering process was a challenge. Their website is glitchy and kept saying it couldn’t locate my area….. although I wanted to do pickup, not checkout. When I finally managed to get through and select my pizza, it automatically added a delivery fee even though I selected pickup. No matter how many times I tried, it wouldn’t let me fix it. I am well aware they use UberEats and other forms of pay. The pizza is already pricey as it is,l and it should be, however, I am not looking to pay any additional fees. I would rather that money go towards tipping.
I decided to call to place an order over the phone— twice — and both times, no one picked up. The second call was 10–15 minutes after the first. I understand businesses get really busy, but it’s also common sense to pickup and place the customer on hold. Otherwise, the impression is that the people working don’t want to deal with the customers trying to place the orders.
I happen to be passing by 5 minutes after the call. I see there is two employees. Once standing by the register, and the other in the back making pizza. I was debating whether to place an order or not. At the end I decided not too. If there had been a lot of people, I would have completely understood why they did not pick up my call, but if they could not take a minute to answer a call for me to place my order, during a time that was not internally busy, that means those employees don’t value their customers.
I wanted to support this place for old times’ sake, but instead, it felt like they’ve completely closed the door on me.

I tried this place for the first time yesterday. I had a mushroom and pepperoni slice. It was thick , delicious and crispy edges. Paid around 4 dollars and some change. I would recommend the pizza. Didn’t have enough time to try other foods since they were closing in 20 minutes from the time I got there.

Excellent spot to grab some pizza in the evening. We were on our way home from the Clippers/Lakers game and were hungry.
Remembered they were located right off the freeway, so we called ahead and it was ready within 5 minutes of us arriving.
Nice crunch on the crust and good amount of toppings.
Restroom was also clean, which we needed after driving from DTLA.

The pizza is actually pretty good, a bit different from other mom and pop places I’ve been to but I enjoyed the pizza. It’s not a thick pizza nor is it thin just somewhere in the middle where it’s not too much bread. I ordered the small pepperoni pizza and it was tasty, a bit on the cheesy side but I like cheese so it’s okay and the Pepperoni’s were just enough on the pizza. I will say it is a bit greasy but for those who had real NYC pizza we’re not afraid of a little grease. It’s a good flavor pizza with good sauce on it as well. The garlic bread is pretty good as well and it is served with some chunky marinara sauce which pairs perfectly. For those who like pizza with ranch, the ranch here is on the creamy side; it’s not as watery compared to other places in the area. Overall I recommend this place, I will go back again whenever I’m in the area and I’m feeling for pizza.

Wow! The pizza was excellent, the cheese was super tasty, and the amount of toppings was impressive. Also, the place was spotless, and the staff was amicable, fast, and welcoming. I’ve eaten some of my pizza inside and then took the rest of it home – the box was free 🙂
