The nachos were not the, “plate full of chips with barely any meat” kind that most places offer- these were stacked high with toppings, and lots of beef. It was also enough for a few people to eat from.
Price to value is, in my opinion, definitely on point. Most similar places lately, charge more and you get these small portions or the food is similar to what I could of got out of the freezer department at Walmart. Our experience here was not that. We will be back!

When it was Stanley’s ….
Great neighborhood pub. Staff is so welcoming and helpful. Prices are reasonable and the food is tasty for pub grub.
On Friday or Saturday night after 4 pm, I can enjoy a nice salad and baked potato for under $7. My hubby likes the black bean burger and always finds something interesting to try from the craft beer menu.
You can even bring your fur baby when the patio is open!
Today we had lots of tacos, burrito, My favorite outlaw beer, Pacifico, beers and really yummy seltzer grapefruit. So good I forgot to take pictures.
I was doing a Google search and, I thought I would try “El Flaco’s Mexican Restaurant” in South Elgin (used to be Stanley’s Bar &Grill). I placed an order to go and, I went with the chicken enchiladas with the green sauce and, they come with a side of rice and beans. This meal was very good! One great thing… they weren’t stingy with the rice and beans (like most places are). LOL
So, I went in and ordered to go. My wait-person, Felicia was really nice. She asked if I was in the rewards club and, I said “No, it’s my first time here.” For signing up, she gave me a $10 gift certificate (which needs to be used within 10 days). Also, she threw in a FREE dessert of churros. She asked if I would like the churro bites or, the horchata bites or, a combo of the bites. I chose the combo so I could try the horchata bites. She also gave me a chocolate sauce as well as a caramel sauce! How nice!!
One other thing, they have a “Buy One Combo (meal) Get One Free.” It’s only an eat-in deal and, you must buy at least one drink. I think that’s a great deal. I’ll be going back for that as well as to use my $10 certificate
El flacos.
As you can see I love mexican foods from all the restaurants I try ..Ramnu Reviews
I ordered the 3 trio tacos the first 2 tacos were good , with green sauce I added.
Steak and pastor , but the chicken tinga was not hitting the spot. Unfortunately the idea of cutting the limes in 1/4s is a horrible idea. It would be easier to squeeze halves just saying.
My wife ordered the chimichanga beef with rice and beans…the beef was absolutely flavorless along with the rice it was barely a off white color lacking seasoning and flavor . Did not eat any after a bite of both.
My daughter ordered the cheese quesadilla…ordered with just sourcream nothing else , still they put on avocado and lettuce on the plate not only would it be cost efficient to listen to the order the way it was said , but wasted what looked to be a good avocado.
The atmosphere was lacking the authentic feeling .
A few things bought and put up on the walls to “turn it” into a mexican restaurant. Did not work to well.
Unfortunately I’m only a mile away and I’ll be a hard pass on going back.
I tried , in hope to find that good mexican food so close to home . Oh well wish them luck
1st attempt — A Saturday night there were a handful of people at the end of the bar. One person had a puppy in a bag sitting at a bar. YUCK. A working dog would not be in a bag and this was a puppy. Then they took the dog in the bathroom to use a pee pad. I said something to the owner, he completely ignored it.
2nd attempt — A Friday afternoon. They were empty, completely unprepared to open and were not used to having customers. The “smash burger” was a regular burger, not bad but not what was ordered. Fries were cold and again no customers.
The only saving grace in this place is the friendly bartenders.
