Everything was great! I did an online order….
The Okra was plentiful and tasty. The shrimp were very large and fried perfectly. The catfish was the jewel….crispy on the outside, flaky and delicious!! Service was amazing. I’ll be back each time I’m in the area.
Note: I had let my onion rings sit a little too long, so they dropped em in the hot oil quickly to reheat and I was extremely grateful for that welcomed experience!

Excellent food and service. I do not normally offer a 5 star but our lunch was amazing and the service was excellent. A little about the service, I did not find the unsweetened tea until the server brought me a bottle. This was over and beyond what a typical walk up and order restaurant would provide. Way to go Bubba’s. We will return each time we are in Tappahanock.

This is the best “Hole in the Wall” seafood place in Tappahannock. We were surprised by the large menu of items and specials like frog legs and alligator! Chicken wings with homemade sauce-wow, delicious! The fish portion was incredible, the fried shrimp was so delicious. We will definitely be back soon!

Great place for lots of fresh made fish baskets, meals, sides. There probably isn’t a fish here you wouldn’t like. There is a wide variety of ocean species. Excellent establishment but it’s tricky to find … It’s by the Lion store. Find it and eat good today! Highly recommend.

I don’t consider this the South, but the hospitality and service would make you think otherwise. Having great fried catfish on top of that makes it all the better. We stopped here on our way to Virginia Beach and it was worth the extra miles. Everything was delicious.

Very nice service and food. The shrimp, crab cake and oysters were very good and lightly battered. Cole slaw was fresh and not too much mayonnaise. Fries were crispy and didn’t taste like fish. Only complaint would be portions are on a bit of the small size for the price but I will probably return at some point.

Had to edit: 10/11/21. Not sure if they got new cooks or what but our food was nothing like the times we’ve gone before. Or maybe it was just late and the quality wasn’t there but received a container of Mac and cheese was piping hot but crusty and hard. The oysters were either over fried or fried in old oil. The oysters and shrimp were a little too salty and the fried clam strips were the opposite.. too bland. Fried okra was pretty good though.
Just moved to the northern neck and decided to try it out. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Will continue to go here! I ordered the shrimp and oyster basket combo with a side of fried clam strips! You could immediately tell it was fresh seafood and great quality. Everything was fried to perfection, even the fries! The hush puppies were so good, I just wish there more in the basket! The Cole slaw was so good too! The staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful! 5/5 definitely recommend!

Found this place driving by and not from around here. Walked in to the most inviting atmosphere and the vibe was so welcoming. The staff was astounding! I wish i lived closer but will visit when in the area. Their special sauce was something out of this world as well. So good! Clean place and it shows how much they enjoy doing this with the quality of food!

This place just kinda popped up here in Mechanicsville and replaced a Skrimp Shack. Have not seen any local or social media advertising about an opening etc which is strange for a business these days. Anyhoo, had the Shrimp sandwich and Fish and Shrimp medium combos for lunch, also came with 2 hush puppies which were good and a good portion of fries with cocktail and tarter sauces. Both sauces were very good as well as hush pups. Nice large size shrimp, could have had a little more fish with the combo and fries were very salty. Cool inside layout, nice vibe and staff was friendly, will be back again since it’s local to try some other meals
