Good food, good prices. We weren’t sure what to expect after talking with someone who thought we wanted an upscale restaurant. If you are looking for a fancy seafood restaurant on the water, this is not it. This is in a strip mall. There was a sign out front with daily specials, $10 including drink. Inside, they had a large board with great variety of choices, which were reasonably priced. You order at the counter, get your own beverage, choose your own seats, then your food is brought to the table. There are two dining areas, one has a fun large mural where it looks like you’re on a dock looking out at some work boats. Two of us chose the shrimp burger with steamed shrimp (you could choose fried shrimp) and two of us had the fried catfish bites/basket. They all came with delicious fries. We all enjoyed the food. We really liked the variety to choose from. I like when I go to someplace new and there are a lot of locals patronizing the establishment. This was nothing fancy, just good food. We will go back.

I’m not typically a sauce guy but they had some sort of light pink sauce that had a little spice to it the more you ate and it was wonderful!! Will absolutely be back!

I ordered the flounder and shrimp along with the French fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw. The 2 pieces of fish were large! The fries were seasoned to perfection! The coleslaw tasted delicious! The hushpuppies also were very tasty! I only wish that their prices were a little lower. I paid $20 + tax for my plate. I will definitely be back!

My mom & I visited for lunch and got the clam strips and blue catfish lunch plates and with slaw and everything tasted fresh and yummy! The sauces were a great addition and they also provide info on the blue catfish which is invasive species that they serve! It’s a great local spot!

Wife had oyster basket with side of fried okre clam chowder apple sauce. Said the chowder tasted like potato soup. The fried stuff was good. I had crab cake sandwich. It was the biggest crab cake I have ever seen but didn’t have the usual taste or texture. Asked for a slice of onion to be added. It arrived without the onion. When I mentioned that they brought a kcup with chopped onion. Also had shecrab soup. Nice thick base with some crab meat on top. Tea was OK.

My boyfriend ordered fish and chips for me and he had fish, shrimp and fries. Only thing was that good was the shrimp and fries. Both of the fish we had was mushy and seemed undercooked. This was our first time trying Bubba’s and thought it would be good food seeing all the good reviews but I guess they were wrong. We won’t be ordering again.

I have yet to try the shrimp but I will definitely be back to Bubba’s Shrimp Shack! The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. Such a delight for a humble simple restaurant. You order at the counter then they bring the delicious food to you.

I come to Bubba’s Shrimp Shack Everytime I come through Gloucester. It’s my favorite stop for the shrimp basket! They are always cooked perfectly and the bubba’s sauce is also delicious! The portions are perfect for the price. The baskets also come with fries and yummy hush puppies. ( I’m sure you can modify that) I just prefer the fries because their fries are great too. The atmosphere has that good old home town feel to it too.
