brisket was fork tender, smokey, lightly marbled, decent bark, and pink smoke line
offering two sauce styles original and an authentic north carolina vinegar mop
original has a medium light pour, a slight tag, rounded smokiness and mild spice profile
the vinegar was very authentic south carolina style, overt tang and a little punch to remind the west coast where barbecue came from
great selection of classic side fixins’ with generous portions
coleslaw was a refreshing purple & green cabbage, creamy, crispy, with a slight tang
classic dill country potato salad was wonderful al dente, creamy delicious
mac and cheese is a original elbow pasta cheddar mac with a slight cheese pull
texas toast was amazing fluffy yet toasty garlic butter and herb

i got the bread pudding to-go so ill have to come back for an updated review
Our beer was flat so we requested new ones . Bacon burger was odd in flavor but other food was good. Not a ton of value for the experience. One of the waitresses was very bubbly and nice.
But watch the bill.
We got double charged for our drinks and the guy wouldn’t fix the bill.
Got a single charge $5 and a double charge $9, for one double pour drink. Bill should have been $9, not 9+5 $14.
Other double wiskey drink was the same, double charge.
Good place, wish the guy would have been honest about the over charge. Makes us question going back, sadly
Service;
RJ provided excellent service!! We were so impressed with his personality & passion for food. He enhanced our dining experience exponentially.
Food;
I got the baby back ribs, macaroni & cheese and Texas Toast. It was all delicious except the Texas Toast had a synthetic flavor. (Note to the food decision makers, a from scratch cornbread would have been lovely).
My husband got the Bubba’s Sandwich with the BBQ beans. He said the portions were generous & had excellent flavor.
For dessert, we split the bread pudding. It had a nice depth of flavor & wasn’t too wet like some of them can be.
We had lots of leftovers & look forward to enjoying them later.
Ambiance; it was comfortable with multiple tv’s to watch sports.
We signed up for the rewards program & RJ mentioned Karaoke, so we definitely want to check that out too.
We recommend & will definitely be back.
Stopped by this new spot– received a welcome at the bar, tasty Bloody Mary (though a Michelada might’ve been smarter). Potato skins (3 for $10) with buffalo chicken, solid and shareable. Turkey club was fine, nothing wild ($17 á la carte) Ambiance at the bar had too many flies got offered a fly fan which helped. The back patio looked great, might come back to try again. One small gripe–the waitresses were eating in plain view, and personal belongings were visible, hoping they’re still ironing out the kinks!
10/12/2025 Updated review
Originally, I wrote a review that was honest, constructive, and even supportive–definitely not scathing. I aimed to share a balanced perspective. But shortly after posting, I received some unexpected backlash from what seemed like upset patrons or possibly employees. That response alone spoke volumes about the culture and professionalism.
Now, the review has been pulled into Yelp’s “Not Recommended” section, which means it no longer counts toward the business’s rating or appears in the main feed. Just a heads-up to anyone considering leaving feedback: you might get pushback, and your review could be quietly filtered out.
I suggest the owner study the concept of price elasticity of demand (PED). It measures how sensitive the quantity demanded of a good is to changes in its price. I doubt their overhead on the Grand Avenue space is very high, so incremental revenue and profits seem quite possible.
