A return visit to one of our favourite restaurants was nothing short of amazing. The food was delicious and the service was equally enjoyable.
Alfredo did a wonderful job taking care of our table. There was one small moment where we had asked for extra sauce that was unfortunately forgotten and never brought out, but aside from that he was incredibly attentive. Especially when it came to refills and checking in throughout our meal.
Overall, it was a great experience and we’re already looking forward to coming back again.
Probably people who doesn’t like the flavor of the sea food might not have much of options but sea food lovers would love this incredible place. The lobster sub is the must have thing very yummy and made very well!
The food was absolutely fabulous. We had the chicken, which was tender and flavorful, and our salad was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable.
We’ve also eaten at their L.A./Universal location, which was equally impressive. Overall, great service, great food, and a welcoming environment I’ll definitely be coming back!
While walking along the Santa Monica Pier, we suddenly found ourselves craving classic fish & chips, and stepping into Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. felt like the perfect choice for the moment.
The first thing that stands out is the design and atmosphere. The entire restaurant is fully themed around the legendary movie Forrest Gump, and it’s done in a fun, immersive way. Movie quotes, military references, framed scenes, props, and signs are everywhere. The famous Forrest Gump bench is a major attraction, and you’ll see guests lining up to take photos, adding to the lively, tourist-driven energy that fits the pier perfectly.
A useful pro tip: instead of waiting for a table, we chose to sit at the bar, which turned out to be a smart move. It saved us about 30 minutes of waiting time, especially during a busy period. The bar seating was comfortable, service was quick, and it’s a great option if you’re hungry and don’t feel like standing in line while the pier is packed.
Food-wise, the fish & chips were solid and enjoyable. The fish was crispy, fresh, and served hot, paired with fries, a tasty tartar sauce on the side, and a small portion of coleslaw. Simple, comforting, and well executed — exactly what you want in this setting.
For drinks, the Skinny Margarita was light and pleasant, not overly sweet, while the club soda with lime was refreshing and clean, especially after walking by the ocean.
The place was busy but well managed, the restrooms were clean, and there’s also a large souvenir shop packed with Forrest Gump and Bubba Gump merchandise if you’re into memorabilia.
Before leaving, don’t forget to walk a few steps and visit the iconic Route 66 – End of the Trail sign right near the pier — a must for road trip lovers and photographers.
Overall, this is not fine dining, but it’s a fun, iconic Santa Monica experience with decent food, strong movie nostalgia, smart seating options, and an unbeatable location. Definitely worth a stop if you’re already on the pier.
Overall, it was such a great experience and a place that leaves you smiling long after you leave. Definitely worth visiting
The food, however, was pretty average and not quite worth the price. The kids’ meal was cute and came served in a little boat, which they enjoyed. I ordered the Cajun shrimp as an appetizer — it was okay. For my entrée, I got the grilled chicken sandwich, which was also just average. Most of the dishes on the menu are fried. We also tried the Bourbon St. Mahi Mahi & Shrimp, and it was just okay as well, missing depth and flavor.
Overall, a fun theme and great nostalgia, but the food itself was average.
We ordered different dishes, and all were pretty good!!!!
I definitely recommend watching the movie before or after you go to make the experience even better!!!
The service was pretty good and the location is just the best!
