Toilet paper is rough though. Be careful wiping more than four times!
The burger I ordered was cooked to perfection and the local crowd was cutting up and having fun with some adult humor.
The food was good.
But that’s about where it ends.
The seating is very limited, which is ok, its a small town dive. However, when we brought our 17 person party in for lunch after visiting the train museum and being told we’d receive a discount with our tickets- we were not welcomed warmly. We attempted to sit in the “outdoor seating area” – which consisted of rickety wooden picnic tables swarmed by wasps- one with a wasps nest on it… we went back inside to find all tables along the entrance open and so we sat. We all ordered and the food was delivered- by table- about every 15 min. Half our party had finished eating before the rest even got their food. And the entire time the locals shot us dirty looks and one local even started clearing one of our tables before they were done. The one still eating had just gotten up to share something off her plate with her husband 2 tables away. The lady was halfway across the room before she stopped to ask if they were done- their food already in her hands. Once she finished we realized our party sitting at this table blocked their access to the gambling machine. My niece asked politely, twice, tobe excused to grab her diaper bag at the previously occupied table and the ol gal would not move for her to get it.
When we went to pay we were informed it was cash only. We hadn’t known this because we came only at the recommendation of the train station so we hadn’t done our research. We paid the tab, left a tip and went on our way. I dont know if we will ever visit the Dells again, but if we did- this wouldnt be an option. The waitress wasnt even friendly until my dad made a joke, she finally smiled briefly. So even though the little diner food was good and really, pretty cheap… i wouldn’t recommend.
But if any of you locals ever venture out of the cornfield of Wisconsin- come see us in NE Wyoming and we will show what hospitality should look like.
