We discovered this place as a recommendation from friends. It’s a nice place with a great atmosphere. It was easy to get a reservation on a Friday evening, although I’m not sure we needed one and they have parking adjacent to the restaurant.

What a wonderful gem in Johnson City! The service was phenomenal, food was out of this world, and their Texas wine selection was great compared to other local options. I loved that they had jazz music playing all night and that they had such a personable approach to making our time there worth while!

The duck alone almost put this at 5 stars. It was amazing. Sadly the crab dip had to much lemon and the veal was tough. Service was slow but expected that for this type of restaurant and the staff refilled my wife’s wine glass for free, due to the wait. Given the price point had to take a star for the slights on the.other dishes. Get the duck!

Long overdue review for Bryan and his team. We came here back in January for my birthday with a large group of 10. Chef Bryan worked with me the second I reached out. He gave me his personal cell to text him to organize the prefix menu he offered us at a fair reasonable price at that! We came from a couple of wineries prior so the party of 11 of us were so ready to eat. We had the private room in the back to ourselves which was nice. Food and great service came instantly. We started off with oysters and the crab dip with bread, our top favorites! Bryan made a prime rib for the group that everyone kept raving about. We make this yearly at our Friendsgiving and it was truly one of the best ones we have had. For sides, we got mashed potatoes, macaroni, and fries, all delightful. I picked this spot for my birthday dinner because my partner and I came here a month prior for the first time and we were really impressed with our meals. I had ordered the off-menu scallops and mussels that made me have to come back here. If you are ever in Johnson City, this is the top spot in town if you are looking for an upscale meal.

This place did not disappoint. Was recommended by a friend so we decided to try it out on our way home. We ordered the Prime Angus Ribeye and the Duck Breast Tartine. Both dishes were very impressive and delicious!! We started off with Scallop & Blue Crab Dip. This did not disappoint one bit. The ambience was perfect. The wine was delicious and desert was great! Would end my evening here hands down!

I took my wife for her birthday to bryans on 290 and it was great. I had the special of the night which was scallops and muzzles in a gumbo sauce over grits, My wife had the beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes. Both plates were delicious, will definitely be coming back!

The food here is delicious! I had the veal schnitzel and would definitely recommend. A bit on the pricey side but really good for an indulgent dinner!

Bryans on 290 has elevated the Blanco County culinary scene, and has done so for many years. Chef Bryan Gillenwater brings a very smart, experienced and well trained work ethic to his kitchen, and his menu reflects a strong knowledge of food-and-wine pairing influence (which is our interest, of course). He has a north-east seafood component that brings us all wonderful oysters, mussels and other raw-bar options. He’s great on the grill, basically a trained whole-cut butcher who knows his way around a live fire grill and a back-yard smoker. His sides are approachable and original at the same time. And his wine list does reflect an international palate. We go back and forth as to whether it should be 100% Texas, but to be honest we appreciate that he has a beyond-borders approach, and clientele. We have had the honor of featuring a couple wines on the list over the years, and always look forward to hosting a chef-winemaker dinner. A top table in the Texas Hill Country. One personal aside, everyone knows that Chef is also a “strong personality,” and if you have time to sit at the Chef’s Counter on a Saturday evening when the place is buzzing, the lobby is full, the ticket wheel is wrapped and calls are coming in to request “walk-in table for 8”, it’s always entertaining to hear the Chef take those calls and imagine the expression of the unwitting caller. Worth the price of a round just for the entertainment!

Amazing food. We came to eat here for lunch after a hike, it hit the spot for sure. We meet the chef Jason, he was really nice. Service was excellent very personable. The pork belly pineapple rice is awesome, I would drive all the way from San Antonio to eat here.

Great food and service. Even with take out, everything was excellent. Rather than go through the wine list, I gave parameters and asked for a recommendation. Was not disappointed! Although a bit expensive, it’s worth the price.
