Stopped for breakfast, a scenic detour off the freeway and excellent breakfast biscuits. Friendly owner and really enjoyed all of the Appalachian trail displays, and the mountain views. Highly recommend

Very unfriendly staff. Not nice to hikers with bags at all, you will be asked to leave your backpacks outside and you can’t even take the ketchup with you there. After we went outside, a big garbage truck arrived and stopped next to us, we asked nicely to turn off the engine because the exhaust was pointing in our direction, while eating. The lady from the restaurant immediately started yelling at us and threatening to completely throw us out because we talked to the truck driver. Disgusting behavior.

It was my first-ever breakfast at an “outpost.” It was good. Enjoyed the visit in Aug. 2025. I had 2 breakfast sandwiches and two little plastic bottles of SunnyD to drink. This is a small restaurant with several tables for indoor eating, and picnic tables outside. They also sell little necessities for the hikers that come through. Good place in a beautiful mountainous region.

Was looking for something local on a road-trip and found this gem. The road to it follows I-77 so it’s easy to get to. Extremely friendly family run place with great food and large portions. Flagged this to visit again when passing through.

Having read soooo many thru hikers reviews we had to find our way on a trip up Rt77. (if ya get confused the Bland Sheriff is happy to give directions and a glowing review). The owners were fantastic and because I was worried that the burger/baloney would be tooooo big (was having a BIG dinner a few hours later) they reduced the slab of baloney !!! WOW. Will have to go again for the full Monty ! The reduced sandwich was soooooo big it still was a challenge. Loved the food (baloney and cheese was a winner as well). Picture is my small sandwich. FUN !!!!!

This is a small convenience store/resupply/fast food place right off the Appalachian Trail. The food here is served in huge quantity to match the appetites of the people it often serves, hikers. The burgers are fresh, huge, and served with a smile. The ice cream was served where it was almost a pint, perhaps more, sitting on top of a cone. We ate it all. It was awesome.

I rated this place 5 stars in every way but you have to know what you’re getting into. My yuppie family was passing through on our way to Charleston with hungry children, so I did a frantic “Open Now” restaurant search and found this place.
The Appalachian Trail literally runs beside this restaurant, so “outpost” is a great name. If I had been hiking 600 miles I couldn’t imagine a better place to stop and load on the hot food calories. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the fried food was as good as it gets. The atmosphere is picnic tables, a great view, and hikers that haven’t had a bath in months. The company is “random” as the AT inspires all sorts of people to tackle it. My family had an amazing time socializing with “Struggle Bus” and his friends and a great lunch. I know all hikers stopping here will be happy and I highly recommend it to them!
