Visiting the area and surprised my bf with a reservation here. The menu was unique and everything was amazing. He got a beautiful steak and I got the handmade pasta. He said it was the best steak he has ever had (I tried it and agree), and the pasta I had was delicious. We also tried the braised celeriac and it was PHENOMENAL. The ingredients were fresh and the taste exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive. We would 100% come back!

Absolutely incredible experience. From the moment you walk in the space feels so warm and welcoming and comfortable. Everyone working here is very kind and intentional in creating a wonderful experience.

The beverage list was unique and delicious- wine and beer both. The food left me speechless…simple yet complex, the flavors were exciting and expertly executed. The portions were perfect, just enough to enjoy the course but not be overly full by the end. Each course was paced very well and we never felt rushed to finish something. Everything was fresh and very high quality, approachable dishes with an upscale touch. It’s clear a lot of thought and talent is behind each and every aspect.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was communal and fun, but it was also easy to let it melt away and be present with whoever you’re dining with.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in NY and I can’t wait to go back. 🙂

Dining at Brushland Eating House was a wonderful experience. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere and charming decor made me feel right at home. The owners are amazing, greeting us personally and making us feel like cherished guests.

The farm-to-table menu is outstanding, featuring fresh, local ingredients in every dish. I especially loved the raw asparagus and deviled eggs. The service was impeccable, with spot-on wine recommendations, including a chilled red wine that I need to go back for again.

Brushland Eating House is a must-visit for anyone seeking delicious, thoughtfully prepared food in a warm, inviting setting. Highly recommended!

I had a great time with friends, but there were a couple of things that stood out. The food was okay but most of us found it a bit too salty for our taste. Honestly it was nothing special compared to what you can find in NYC. We may have been spoiled here!!
One unexpected moment was when the chef gathered everyone around the bar to share his thoughts on the restaurant’s vibe. While I appreciate the intention of encouraging connection, it felt a bit awkward. He emphasized that this isn’t a place for formal dining—like using a knife and fork for deviled eggs—but we were already enjoying our meal in our own little corner with friends. Sometimes, it’s nice to just relax with your own group!
Also, a heads-up: there’s no cell service in the area for quite a few miles, so be ready for a digital detox!
Overall, it was a fun outing, but I won’t go back and will not suggest it to my friends.

Beautiful space, incredible food and charming staff. Every element of the dish was a star and a delight. It’s a clean-your-plate kind of place because you don’t want to waste a single bite of this excellence. The rice pudding is insanely good. Fun music!

Food is impressive though. Could be a good choice in the area.
But service is deterring from our unique experience.
We brought dogs and planed to leave them in Airbnb but later found it not practical. We had to bring dogs and were not able to dine in anymore. I first came up to the manager and proposed several options but each was declined respectively.
1. Sit by door so we can see our dogs – NO because seats are assigned.
2. Take-out – NO because each dish is cooked in order.
3. Dine in our own car parked in backyard – NO because they cannot serve outdoor.
After rejecting all my proposals, the manger just left me behind because she had to take care of people seated. She could have told me she’ll be back in a few minutes but she didn’t. My friend learned the conversation and she proposed to take out after all dishes were served and finally they agreed. Plus, no utensils given.
The whole experience was like they took our money already and don’t care if we can have dinner, not even tried to help. It was us, patrons, that kept thinking of solutions and they decide whether to take it. The service is overpriced.

TL;DR – It was amazing!

I first learned about Brushland Eating House during COVID. Every time I looked at their Airbnb, it was booked. Finally, the schedule aligned.

The week’s menu was: Mushroom Focaccia, Romano Bean Soup, Tomato Salad, Cavatelli, Chicken Pollo Alle Melanzane, and Olive Oil Cake. My partner has an allium sensitivity and is also a vegetarian so they not only made an entirely different menu that was vegetarian, but they even altered the vegetable dishes to remove the onions. The vegetarian entree was Gormeh Sabzi, which was the tastiest version of this dish I’ve ever had, and I’ve had plenty of Sabzi

The service was also very attentive, and the mix of people who chose to drive all the way out here made for great conversations. My only regret is that I did not do this earlier. Looking forward to another wonderful meal in the future!

this is such a fun, beautiful, delish experience. the staff is attentive and the eclectic beverage choices are a fun way to add to the experience. the skin contact wine from Iran was amazing. be sure to not eat a big lunch, plenty of tasty food and timed out not to rush. The chef owner is strangely shy and out going helping the staff on the floor and giving a slightly awkward welcome speech which I personally loved. the single picture of John Starks dunking on Jordon in the bathroom always makes me smile. I truly believe the extremely rare one star reviews are from people who spend their lives rehearsing for their own unhappiness. If you enjoy life book a table at Brushland’s and take your time because nobody is rushing you out the door. Thank you Sohail and team.
