Probably the best Indian I’ve ever had.
And is just as good delivered as it is eating at the restaurant.
Impeccable every time.
Chicken tikka masala is my go to, highly recommend, Also the meat garlic masala.
Lovely atmosphere and staff. Our favourite date night whether out for dinner, or in for dinner!

It seems the reviews from Con Gillespie, Anna Amato and Andre Vakilzadeh are conspiring to negatively impact this stalwart business of Clifton village. Two of the reviews are almost identical, and the review from Amato reinforces the fact that this group that ordered food for 11 in a large takeaway order were expecting free poppadoms as part of their order, and when they didn’t get them, went back to the restaurant to complain.
They say that they had to go back to get their ‘starters’ (ie free poppadoms) which meant the rest of their food went cold, but then they also state they only live a few minutes away. So how is your food going cold in a few minutes? I collect from here, walk home in 15 minutes, and my food is always still incredibly hot by the time I get home. I even have to leave it a few mins to cool down. I just don’t understand how these people think their reviews aren’t utterly see through nonsense? Wahhh I didn’t get my free poppadoms so I’m going to give you a one star review! Absolutely pathetic, entitled, vindictive behaviour.
As far as my actual review of the Brunel Raj goes, the curries are always incredible, and the staff always so friendly! I highly recommend a lamb garlic masala, karahi gosht, butter chicken masala, vegetable rice, and they will even make you dishes off menu if you desire and they have the ingredients ready – ask for an aloo matar!
Quick edit: I just picked up an order around 40 minutes ago, I’ve been at the pub ever since, and my food is still hot. Even the naan, the item that should go cold the quickest. Absolute nonce sense from the reviews I referenced.

Lovely takeaway from here. The restaurant were very accommodating when I asked about dairy free options. We had a large order for a group of us and it arrived hot and fairly promptly. Would recommend.

My partner and I stumbled upon the Brunel Raj on a Tuesday evening during our visit to Clifton. We both agreed that it was one of the best Indian meals we have had in a long while. The staff were courteous and attentive. It was a great find and we would throughly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We went for dinner on Thursday evening after being recommend this restaurant and were unfortunately very disappointed. The waiter who served us was very abrupt and rude, despite us being the only people in the restaurant we seemed to be an inconvenience.
We had a chicken dopiaza and a Saag paneer which were both ok, but nothing I’d bother to go back for. All in all very disappointing.

Great clean restaurant, good food, especially liked the beef and the naan
If you like spicy food ask for it separately, ours was pretty mild (but they also saw our white faces and realised that we like it that way, and they were mostly right)
Very polite, gave chocolate in the end 🙂

Its Friday, it’s the weekend! Despite the covid threat we are spending a weekend in Bristol and in particular around Clifton. We’ve had a few drinks in the Quadrant around the corner and now we are hungry. This was our third choice as the others were fully booked. Small and intimate and not particularly welcoming, this curry house is the only one I have known that has a “joss stick” aroma throughout….quite weird. The food was ok, annoyingly small wine glasses for our red wine and even more annoying you are not permitted to share a main course!! Ah well….there loss because we just ordered less side dishes. It was pleasant enough but nothing special….

I run a curry club that has been going for the last 4 years and by this point we’ve tried most curry houses in Bristol. In my opinion the Brunel Raj is the best of the lot – I’ve been a few times and every time the food is bang on and the atmosphere is fantastic. Fair warning it can be noisy so maybe not a quiet date spot.

Was visiting Bath to see old friends whom we had both lived in Clifton during the 70,s And Made A Return Visit Yesterday Friday , Ordered A Take away for 3 Of Us 3 Mains and Side Dishes & Nans , Arrived Home in Anticipation Of A Eagerly Awaited Supper To Be The Most Disappointed I Think I Have Ever Been More So For My Embarrassed Hosts Whom Had Purchased The Meal , It Was Lacking Any Taste, Spice Or Hint Of An Indian Meal , Only Colour !!! I Could Have Been Eating An Irish Stew , Did The Chef have Covid ? No Smell & Definitely NO TASTE, So A Catastrophic End To Out Day , Never To Venture Into The Establishment Again Give It A Miss Walk By And Save A Big Let Down, The Photos Taken This Morning After Retrieving From Waste Bin !!!!!
