As others have stated in their review the shrimp and grits is way off from what it used to be. Ive been coming here for a longtime and even back then when it was served on a skillet. Today the shrimp tasted uncooked like they literally poured it out from a frozen bag fresh from the frozen aisle. It had a fishy smell and raw texture. The sausage and service was still good but this was the one item I used to come here for and now its seems to be not as good anymore. The duck bacon is still amazing though.

Awesome every single time! I had the Bacon Waffle and it was incredible, even for a pancake person! Staff is always super nice and helpful, even during rush hour. It can be a bit loud at times, though. Overall, 10/10!

The food is pretty basic and flavorless and these are pictures in the men’s restroom which are pretty sexist and pointless.

The imagery featured promotes an “old-school” objectification of women that is both sexist and outdated. Regardless of whether the intent was “vintage” or “humorous,” the result is an environment that feels unwelcoming and disrespectful to your patrons.

Judging by your response, you obviously don’t care about how this portrays women as sex objects and not people.

There’s plenty of other breakfast places with better food and more couth.

This place has great ratings but the food is so so. For a breakfast spot the Scrambled eggs looked like they sat under heat lamp- dry. Biscuits looked and tasted like hamburger buns. Gravy NO taste

Been here 10+ times and I always chuckle when I see the 1 star reviews. Price is better than most brunch spots, selection is AMAZING, location is convenient and the service is great with food that comes out fast. We did have one time where they forgot to put whipped cream on my crepes but rather than say nothing and then leave a 1 star review, I notified the waitress and something amazing happened – they fixed it!! Here’s to my next 10 visits. (Tried the guava crepes today – strongly recommend them!).

I had been looking forward to coming back to Bunchies with my wife after having an amazing shrimp and grits dish there about a year ago. That first experience stuck with me—the shrimp was fresh, the grits were perfectly cooked, and the andouille sausage added the perfect touch. Naturally, I was excited to return and order the same thing.

This time, however, the experience was different.

We were seated quickly and ordered the shrimp and grits right away. When the dish came out, I immediately caught a strong smell from the shrimp that raised a red flag. As someone who worked as a seafood manager for over 15 years, I know the difference between fresh and off seafood. I’ve handled it, ordered it, inspected it—I know the shelf life and how even the sauce can turn when the shrimp is bad. I tasted one bite, and unfortunately, it confirmed my suspicion.

Rather than making a scene, I respectfully asked the waiter to take it back and bring a menu. He hesitated and told me, “That’s just how the dish is.” That response was disappointing. While I understand not everyone may have experience in food service, it’s important to listen to guests, especially when they voice a valid concern.

That said, I calmly explained my background and reassured him I wasn’t trying to cause trouble. He did end up taking the dish back, and we both ordered omelettes instead—my wife got the veggie, I got the western, both with English muffins and potatoes. They came out hot, fresh, and tasted just fine.

The bill came to about $36, and despite the earlier hiccup, I still tipped $10 because our server, while misinformed in that moment, remained polite and did his job.

What’s most disappointing is that Bunchies used to be a place I’d rave about—now I’m unsure if I’ll return for the shrimp and grits. Maybe there’s a new cook or change in management, but when quality slips on a signature dish, it makes you think twice.

This is a restaurant that serves breakfast & skillets in a homey atmosphere. Even though the place is clean, the decor & logo seems dated. It felt like I walked back 4 decades. The service was overall good and attentive, but it was frustrating when our waitress disappeared after giving us our check.

The food here is the best thing it offers. The soda and guava cheese French toast is very sweet, and offers good taste. The chorizo and eggs were very flavorful, and specially with the rice and massive tortilla on the side. Overall, would recommend if you live nearby.

My arrival at Abby’s a half an hour early had me looking for a way to kill time. Brunchies was a couple doors down and I had not had breakfast yet. They opened at 7am. Located on N. Dale Mabry in a busy plaza with a 5 Guys, Starbucks and BBQ place, the plaza houses an interesting array of businesses. Me, I frequent Abby’s.

There was a diner vibe to the place. A counter dining option was to the left as you entered, a large wide open dining area in the middle as well as 2 separate meeting/dining rooms for groups off to the right. Kitchen at the back and most beverage options behind the dining counter. A well organized place but maybe a tad disheveled.

An extensive menu with loads of treats was in fine print so bring your glasses. Lots of delectable options but I found that many basic combos were missing in several categories. They did have the “build your own” option but that makes your basic ham and cheese omelet more expensive. Of the four “go to” items I usually order, none were on the menu.

I ended up ordering a cuban sandwich and a cup of coffee, $12 and $5. The cuban came with a side. She offered potatoes but I declined and she then listed the other options. I got a salad. The cuban was small and the taste while good was greasy and not tradionional. If I had to describe, I would say the salami tasted like a sharp pepperoni. I ate my salad, drank my coffee and ate half a sandwich. Took the rest home, it was dinner.

My experience was tarnished at the end when I got my bill and with tip, was $27. I examined my bill and found I was charged $4 for my salad, my side item. That left me fuming. I paid the bill, did not complain. I blame the server who should have told me that a salad, which she listed as a side option, was an upcharge of $4. To me, that’s dishonest. Reminds me of servers that do not tell you a 20% gratuity is part of the bill and watch you add another 20%.

Not planning to go back. Things like that ruffle my feathers! Most reviewers have good things to say.
