Brunch and Rice is one of those places where the food is so good, I have a serious problem: I never remember to take pictures! By the time I think, “Oh, I should totally snap a pic of this amazing dish,” it’s already too late. The plate is clean, and I’m left sitting there with a full stomach. Mai, the chef extraordinaire behind all this magic, serves up some of the best authentic Hmong, Laos, and Thai food I’ve ever had.
Here are some of my favorites: The Hmong Sausage with Purple Sticky Rice, Fried Chicken with Purple Sticky Rice, Thai Coconut Ice Cream and the Jumbo Laab Wings. I once traveled from Grand Rapids all the way to Chicago to bring my family some of those wings, and even after the trip, they said they were some of the best wings they’ve ever had. Make Sure you get her Thai Coconut Ice Cream as she makes it in-house! It is very worth it!
Oh, and don’t forget the drinks! Her Refreshers are just as amazing as they look—no false advertising here, folks. And the Ube Halaya Milk Tea?. Perfectly sweet, perfectly creamy, and perfectly paired with my meal.
So, if you’re heading to Brunch and Rice, just know you’re in for a treat. You might end up like me and not walk away with Instagram-worthy food pics, because trust me, you’ll be too full and happy to remember!

My family and I came to have lunch and were welcomed by the lovely Mai as she was grilling pork skewers! Yum! The ambience was hip and anyone can sing! The food was temperature hot and tasted perfection! The papya was a perfect medium spice and bursting in sweet and tangy flavors. Sticky rice was on point, the larb wings were so delicious it is its own “crack seasoning.” You’ll want more wings! The kids enjoyed the spring rolls and they were crispy. The nahva tri color dessert and brown sugar milk tea for dessert to top off lunch. The drinks aren’t super sweet, which we appreciate. Thank you for your hospitality! We’ll be back.

I went to the grand opening for Brunch N Rice, Adobo Boy, and Amazing Myanmar. I got a pork skewer and Ube Halaya and it was absolutely delicious! The pork was grilled perfectly and it came with a very nice sweet chili sauce. The Ube Halaya was amazing. Ube is my absolute favorite and I’ve never had it as a milk tea but I’ll definitely go back for more because it was so good!
