After having delicious bagels in other states, I thought I’d try to see if there is a bagel place in Des Moines. The bagel itself wasn’t bad and we will go back, but there were a few differences I noted. This was the first time in the US that my bagel didn’t come cut in half, so to show you inside, I had to lift the top side. I also found that there was only cream cheese on one side of the bagel, which was a little disappointing. The ratio of smoked salmon was also less than what I’ve had in other states. Lastly, they only serve the usual American type of coffee, so I couldn’t have a nice cappuccino along side it.
On the place itself, I’m not sure if the side door has always been so noisy, but it is very disturbing every time someone used it.

While I was waiting for this bagel (that was a small, 1 egg, cheese bagel for over $6….) a woman asked to talk to the lead staff member there. She said the bathrooms were filthy and there were roaches. The staff member said “I’m just a shift manager, I don’t know what to tell you….” and then nothing happened. Nothing else was said. The bathrooms weren’t immediately checked. They all just kept calling orders. It wasn’t super busy and there were several employees.

Im in between 3 and 4 stars. It was the BEST carmel cold brew ive ever had. I ordered the sausage (instead of baccon) avacado, tomato eggwhite on everything bagel unfortunately I got this pizza sausage bagel instead? It looks like it was just missing the avacado and tomato slices. They were busy so I just ate it without saying anything. Regardless it was a decent sandwich just a little different than what my pallet was expecting with my true order.
The coffee will have me coming back.

Went there with my family for breakfast. We’ve gone here for years. It used to be good, but it’s fallen short lately. The girl making our bagels needs to be retrained on her customer service. Our bagels were burnt. The hashbrown was ice cold so I asked her to rewarm them. She said they were previously “cooked though.” She threw them on her counter and had an attitude. When she brought them back out to us, she said, this is as warm as I can get them. No sorry about that. Nothing. Maybe if she wasn’t so worried about her friend she had to tend, our food would’ve been fine.

When I place a pick up order, they just set it behind the counter and not on the order pick up stand. I only find this out when I see several ppl come in after me, order in person, get their orders and leave. Then I go up to the counter, ask if I need to tell them I have an order, and they hand me a bag that’s been sitting. So my order is always pretty cold when I get it. This has happened to me at both Brueggers locations. I will change my review if this location starts using the order pick up stands when the orders are ready and are put out in the order they were received

Now I’ve been coming to Brueggers for years and never had a problem with their sandwiches until today, I must say I am a bit disappointed with my order, my hot pastrami lunch bagel was dry as ever and was missing the veggie ingredients, also I noticed the price went up, I would hope going forward if your going to be charging that much for just a sandwich bagel all ingredients should be included…

Went there to get bagels early morning. Pulled up and the open sign wasn’t on and it looked like most of the lights were off and no one inside, but was within their normal business hours. Walked in and I was the only customer there. Walked up to the bagel section, employee behind the counter didn’t give me much attention. I told her I was ready to order and she walked towards the register. I told her I was just getting bagels and she said I have to order at the register. Don’t know why we couldn’t just grab the bagels in the bagel section and then go to the register and pay, but whatever. So I tell her my order and then I mention the Open sign wasn’t on thinking they’d probably want to correct that. She seemed annoyed that I mentioned it. So tap my card to pay then walk over to pick up my order back at the bagel section. She just hands me the bag and doesn’t say anything. Then I start walking out and she flags me down saying the transaction hadn’t completed. So I walk back to the register to finish up. So in total, we went from bagel section, to register, to bagel section, to register to complete one transaction all while the employee seemed upset that I wasn’t even there. Got home, read through the reviews, saw the place had multiple instances of people finding cockroaches, and threw away the bagels not willing to take a chance. Just an overall terrible experience. Won’t be going back to any Brueggers restaurants again.

Went to this bagel place hoping for a good breakfast, but it was a letdown. The food was just okay—not fresh or tasty. Service was slow and the staff seemed confused. The place was messy and not clean at all. Tables were sticky, and the whole setup felt unorganized. I had to wait way too long for a simple order. Definitely not coming back anytime soon. There are better spots nearby that actually care about their customers and keep things clean.
