The filet was phenomenal — honestly one of the top three filets I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and full of flavor. The sides were just as impressive, and the Mud Pie for dessert was absolutely ridiculous in the best possible way — rich, indulgent, and unforgettable.
We went on Sunday night, the day after Valentine’s Day, and the place was packed (good thing they take reservations). We’d had an unfortunate experience the night before at a different local restaurant, but despite the crowd, we were seated right away at a great table. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance: relaxed but upscale, with a retro country steakhouse vibe that feels both classic and comfortable.
The staff was outstanding — attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. We also enjoyed a fantastic local cab from Brave & Maiden that paired beautifully with the steak.
From start to finish, it was a perfect evening. This place absolutely lives up to its reputation.
Thankfully, the experience really turned around with the main courses. My wife ordered the ribeye, and it was cooked perfectly to her liking with excellent flavor. I had the prime rib special, which was also cooked perfectly and tasted even better than I expected. Paired with au jus and horseradish sauce, it was outstanding, and I finished every bite. The mashed potatoes served with both dishes were creamy and delicious as well.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal and will definitely be back, we’ll just be skipping the calamari next time.
We started with drinks—my double Pendleton and Coke was impressively strong, likely closer to a triple, while my wife’s double Gentleman and Coke was equally delightful. Both cocktails were perfectly mixed, setting a great tone for the evening.
Now, onto the food, which truly stole the show. My wife ordered the 6-ounce filet mignon, cooked to perfection, beautifully complemented by potatoes au gratin with sautéed onions. I went for the 8-ounce New York steak, paired with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Each bite was better than the last, showcasing expert seasoning and cooking techniques.
One of the best parts? Brothers Red Barn is just about 2 miles away from Chumash Casino, making it the perfect spot for a date night before or after some fun at the casino.
Overall, Brothers Red Barn offers a memorable dining experience with its charming setting, excellent cocktails, and outstanding cuisine. I can’t wait to return!
