Having lived in Eastern Iowa my entire life I’m embarrassed to say I learned of Brothers from a work colleague out of Michigan. They make a point to stop every time they pass through the area. Hearing that I just had to give it a try and I was not disappointed!
Walking in you feel the homey comfort and are greeted by friendly staff. The menu is large with something for everyone.
My colleague raved about the tenderloin, so that was my choice and it was delicious! It is also quite large, so expect to have leftovers or be very stuffed when you are finished. My wife ordered the tenderloin dinner and also said it was very good! Finally for desert they have a wide selection of cakes and pies to choose from, all of which look delicious making for a very difficult decision.
As embarrassed as I am to just now learn of Brothers I can say we will definitely be back soon!

Had lunch with family. Food was awesome. Meal came within a decent time. Waitresses were attentive to our tables needs. At checkout they even gave my dad free bakery items because of his birthday. All in all, place is great to eat at.

On our way back from Chicago on I80 my wife and I stopped at Brothers Restaurant in Rapids City, Illinois. From Illinois take the last exit (Exit 1) before crossing over the Mississippi River, and from Iowa take the first exit (Exit 1) just after crossing over the river.
We both ordered a breaded tenderloin with fries and shared an order of onion rings. Everything was great including the staff, service, atmosphere. It brings back memories of growing up in a small cafe tenderizing pork loin by hand with a hammer, dipping them in egg and milk before covering them with the breading.
We also took home a loaf of pumpkin cinnamon bread from their bakery. Recommend it as well.
Next time you are going in that direction, plan to stop and plan to spend about $20-25/person when you include the tip.

It’s a hit or miss on the service. Some waitresses are more easy going and friendly than others. I’ve had a few instances where waitresses and staff are kind of unpleasant but the food is great. And the portions are very filling & worth the price !

Very yummy, unapologetically a millenial burger joint type place, but everything smelled nice. The fruit on my friend’s pancakes were.. bland? And the jam, she said, tasted “dirty”, but I think it was just an unripe batch of fruit and a different jam than she’s used to. It all looked lovely though! ^-^
I got a burger and fries. They were good. I liked how they cooked it :]
Great service, took home my leftovers, took a couple sips of honey mustard (better than Heinz!), and went on my merry way. 9/10!

Busy, cute, family-owned with the owner always at the register giving away their homemade bread, or bustling to seat you. Staff are all friendly, personable, work as a team- it’s clear they enjoy each other’s company while on shift, making the ambience light, casual and fun for the sweet, diner-style establishment.

Family has been coming here for over 40 years. Under new management and still delicious meals of fine quality at a great price. Updated areas offer much more space then before, but do make the mornings and evenings a little tight on tables. Be sure to call ahead for a table. Service with a smile and a wonderful time. This place also has it’s own hot sauce which is devine
