Brooklyn Square completely lived up to the hype. Easily some of the best pizza I’ve had in a long time. The grandma pie was outstanding—perfectly crisp crust, fresh sauce, and just the right balance of cheese and seasoning. The vodka pie was the real star for me though—rich, flavorful, and unbelievably satisfying.

Myself being a Brooklyn native I take my pizza seriously. I drive an hour to get to Brooklyn Square Pizza and it’s worth the trip. Peter Pizza and the Brooklyn Square family are masters of the pizza making business. They know what there doing they know exactly when to turn and take out your pizza . We always get an upside down square pie it’s amazing.

For years my family has been coming here, every time I visit home we order calamari and some other things and it’s always been amazing! not tonight’s order though, was pretty bad. I think they gave us a bad estimate for pick up time because it was cold by the time we ate (4 minute drive) but the heartbreak comes from the calamari. Idk if yall switched vendors or cooks or what but it was so rubbery and chewy and disappointing we couldn’t eat it. The pizza wasn’t cut through all the way so not a huge deal but just saying cause it was b team energy tonight.

Top pizza in nj. At the very least in monmouth county. The crust is amazing. Dont know how they do it but its done with perfection.
Met the owner as well, awesome guy, the guy at the counter was great too. This is easily better than 95% of the places in ny without question…. and I only say that because I haven’t tried them all.

Welcome to pizza royalty — we’re talking about the legendary Brooklyn Square Pizza in Jackson, NJ, where the crust is crispy, the sauce is bold, and the toppings are piled with pride!

Owner Peter Grippo has built a pizza empire with a crust so crisp, sauce so sweet, and cheese so perfectly layered that even Dave Portnoy himself had to take notice — giving Brooklyn Square an impressive 8.9 rating on Barstool’s One Bite!

And if that wasn’t enough? Brooklyn Square won the title of Best Pizzeria in the USA on Good Morning America — a nationwide showdown judged by food critics and fanatics alike. This spot isn’t just a local gem — it’s a national treasure.

From the caramelized crust to the reverse-layered cheese and signature red sauce — every bite is bold, balanced, and baked to perfection.

This is not your average slice — it’s a full-blown flavor experience.
But it’s more than just a slice — this Jackson location boasts a full menu and a cozy dining room that puts you right in the heart of the Borough itself. From the classic red-and-white Italian tablecloths to the framed photos of legends and local icons, every inch of this place oozes old-school charm and passion for Italian-American food culture.

Whether you’re there for the famous Upside Down Pie, a hearty pasta dish, or just soaking in the ambiance — this place delivers every single time.

Maria, our waitress was fantastic. She guided us through the Square pizza choices and told us we can split between 2 pies. We ordered the Gravesend and Upside down square pies. Hands down the best tasting pies we have ever had. We will spread the word and recommend Brooklyn Square to those who have never been there. The entire staff was friendly. Thank you for creating pizza that elevates the whole experience of what great tasting pizza should be.

Some of the best pizza we’ve had, we came in with high expectations and were not disappointed!

Square pizza was light, amazing sauce and cheese, full of flavor and was true to its roots with Brooklyn in its name. Pasta and Panini were equally great and look forward to trying everything at some point.

We sat in the dining room and service was wonderful. Owner was there and very welcoming and friendly, had a great talk and nice to hear his story and about his family. Wish him the best with his battle with cancer. Amazing to see so much positivity and it came through in the wonderful food! Highly recommend a visit.

Phenomenal pizza! We ordered the Square Upside-down Pie, it was perfectly cooked and very flavorful! The owner Peter was very sociable. We told him how much we enjoyed the square pie and that we couldn’t wait to come back and try their regular thin crust NY style, so he came back to the table with 2 complimentary slices, which were just as good. We live 45 minutes away, and we will definitely be back because it is well worth the drive!

Honestly was very disappointed. I grew up in Jackson and went to Brooklyn square as soon as they opened up. I moved to California 4 years ago and just moved back to the area so was very happy to have Brooklyn square again. The vodka square had zero crunch, the upside down also lacked crunch but some how the bottom was burnt. The nonna pie tasted stale as if they gave us a pie that’s been sitting out for hours. I don’t think there was one employee working that was over 17 on a Saturday night. I feel like someone pissed in my Cheerios

In the area for a dance competition and this was a must stop. We were here a year ago and had to return! This upside down square pie is delicious! The sauce is something really special!! It’s a good thing, for my purse, that we live two plus hours away!
