The Pizza: A Masterclass in Crust and Creativity
We embarked on a culinary tour de force, sampling four distinct pizzas that showcased the kitchen’s impressive range. Each pie was built upon that perfect New York-style foundation: a thin, impeccably charred crust that was crisp yet pliable, with an airy, chewy cornicione that’s the hallmark of great fermentation.
· The Classic Cheese: The benchmark. This is where you taste the soul of the pizzeria. The bright, tangy tomato sauce and the generous, stretchy mozzarella are in perfect harmony. It’s a timeless and flawless execution.
· The Pepperoni: A quintessential favorite, elevated. The pepperoni cups into tiny, crispy bowls holding pools of spicy, rendered fat, ensuring every bite is packed with savory, salty flavor.
· The Pink Vodka Pizza: An absolute triumph of balance. The rich, creamy vodka sauce—with its subtle tomato tang and sharp Parmesan punch—manages to be both decadent and incredibly moreish. It’s a sophisticated pie that never feels heavy.
· The Mole Pizza : The standout star and a brave culinary fusion that pays off spectacularly. The deep, complex mole, with its nuanced notes of chocolate and chili, provides a stunning base. Topped with sharp, pickled purple onions, this creation is a symphony of sweet, savory, and delicious flavors.
The Sides: Far From an Afterthought
If the pizza is the headline, the sides are the blockbuster supporting act. They are so good they could easily be the main attraction.
· Cilantro, Chorizo, and Cheese Fries:. This wasn’t just a side dish; it was a revelation. The golden, perfectly crispy fries were smothered in fresh cilantro, melted cheese, and, most importantly, incredibly flavorful, spiced chorizo. The combination was nothing short of addictive, a gourmet take on loaded fries that we are still dreaming about.
· Buffalo Wings: These wings would be a star at any dedicated wing joint. They arrived with skin shatteringly crisp, guarding juicy, tender meat within. Tossed in a perfectly balanced buffalo sauce that delivered both fiery heat and a tangy butter finish, they were utterly irresistible.
The Finishing Touches: A Testament to Craft
The commitment to quality extends beyond the food. The fact that their flavored waters are shaken “à la minute” is a detail that speaks volumes. This isn’t a pre-batched, sugary concoction. It’s a fresh, vibrant, and nuanced beverage that cleanses the palate and elevates the entire meal. This level of dedication to something as humble as water is the mark of a team that is truly passionate about the guest experience.
Brooklyn Ave Pizza Co. is more than a pizzeria; it’s a culinary destination. They have achieved the perfect trifecta: mastering timeless classics, demonstrating bold creativity, and executing even their sides and drinks with unparalleled excellence.
Horrible dining experience. We went on our lunch break- group of 8. Had reservations at 12. We were the only people there. A smaller group left after waiting too long to be acknowledged. The waiter had absolutely 0 customer service skills. He took a while to take our order. We got there at 12. Based on the receipt he took our order at 12:26. He didnt bring us water until 12:34pm, which he left on the side of the table for us to serve ourselves- nothing said. No ice, even though we asked for ice water. The whole time we were there he was busy stocking shelves. We ordered pizza, wings, salad which all sat on the counter for about 15 minutes min. He brought everything at once (at 12:48) and just laid it out, not asking whose was what. Left us there wondering what went to whom. The food was not hot which in my opinion took away from the taste. He totally missed a drink order and never brought any water refills. He never once checked in on us. Never cleared the table despite sitting there well after we were finished eating. We had to get up to get our own boxes and to ask foe the check. He brought over the pay machine and didnt bother giving us a receipt until we asked for it. The icing on the cake, he had already charged 18% for tip. Completely undeserved. Worst experience of my life. I will not be returning.
We started with the caprese salad and chorizo gravy papas (thick fries). We didn’t know that the salad would be served with flatbread but it was delicious! The papas were seasoned with a cajun seasoning and paired nicely with the toppings. The portions of these were great!
We got a classic margherita pizza and their July special that comes with pastrami, honey mustard, pickled onions and cheese. Both were delicious, but we liked the July special one more as it was different than what we normally get at pizza spots.
Ended off the meal with creme brûlée and we were super stuffed at the end of the meal. We took home half of each pizza so we had lunch for the next day. Parking in the area is a bit difficult but worth it for the food here. Can’t wait to come back to try some of their other monthly specials.
