I was pleasantly surprised, expecting frozen diner Denny’s style food and nothing tastes frozen at all. I got the chicken fried steak dinner to go. I am a bit of a cfs snob and I was very happy with this meal!!! I will definitely come back. Breakfast all day?!! Yay! Great service and friendly staff.

We stopped by on our way to Los Gatos because we were hungry and tired, and it turned out to be such a wonderful surprise. We had never noticed this diner before, but what a great experience it was. The place is truly special, with so much care and attention to detail. The service was impeccable, and the food was amazing.

Highly recommended!

Came in at 1:00pm and they were still serving breakfast which was awesome! Server was friendly and attentive and the food was awesome! I got the chorizo and onion scramble, it was full of flavor and quickly disappeared from my plate! My wife got the French toast which was fantastic. Highly recommend giving this place a try, especially if you’re already staying at the lodge!

So happy to see Brookdale Diner back and buzzing again! The menu is wonderfully expansive with solid options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had the Monte Cristo and a Reuben with fries, and both were absolutely delicious. Comfort food done right.
Larry was an absolute delight and took such great care of us. You can tell he genuinely loves his job and his community, which makes the whole experience feel extra special. After eating, we popped next door to the lounge for drinks and cozied up by the fireplace on a rainy day, which was perfection.
Larry even gave us a peek into the River Run room and it felt downright magical. I can’t wait to see what they do with it. He also mentioned hopes of getting the pool back up and running someday, which would be pure magic for Brookdale. So excited to have this place back and can’t wait to return. ✨

Had dinner and breakfast there while staying at the Lodge this past week. Wonderful hamburger and Pork chop for dinner, then breakfast next morning. Loved the “Italian Omelette” with Pesto and Mushrooms. Let us bring in our own wine without corkage fee, though you can also bring in form local bar next door. Staff very friendly.

Imagine a 50s diner like Ruby’s in the middle of the Redwoods. Service was awesome as was food. Locally owned.

A little local history, the BDL has gone through some rough spots in the last few years. Long story short, it was purchased by an owner who had little respect for the historical value and the place the BDL has in the heart of the SLV and California history. The  mountain community quickly let their displeasure be known. 😉
Luckily, the new owner understands this, and is doing his best to restore her to her former glory. One of his best moves was tracking down Pedro Perez, who ran the original BDL Diner over 20 years ago, for those of you with a long memory. Let me tell you the food and service have gotten even better.

This is a beautiful family run establishment.
Pedro and his family are lovely.
It deserves support in these trying times.

They serve fresh homestyle diner faire with California flair.
Heavenly chicken fried steak, huevos rancheros, waffles, pancakes, crepes, French toast, eggs bene, burgers, hot and cold sandwiches, salad, ect. The hash browns are out of this world. He does this thing where he adds green onions to them, and it’s just too good.
Great menu. Not too much to choose from, but enough that you’ll have a hard time deciding on what you want to try.
They serve Santa Cruz Roasting Company Coffee and man is it good.
They have an ice cream counter too, they serve Marriane’s. If I have to tell you how good Marianne’s is, you have been missing out my friend.

Truth is, I haven’t tried anything I haven’t loved.
The portions are spot on.
The ambiance is great.
Red, white, and chrome.
Black and white checkered floors.
Pure Americana.
Indoors or out.
Darling patio.
If you come for the live music on the weekends, you can order from the diner and they’ll bring your order to you on the other side of the hotel. Just so you can continue to enjoy the music uninterrupted.
There is Wi-Fi.
(If you’re a local you know how awesome this is.)
There is plenty of seating indoors and out.
Even on a busy weekend you should be able to get a table.
They are kid and pet friendly.
They are just plain friendly.
There’s even a little smoking patio in the center of the parking lot, for those of you who enjoy a smoke after a good meal.
