Election Day. Tuesday, November 1964. Lyndon B. Johnson is elected President of the United States. At 4 PM Bronko Tarailo opens the doors of his first restaurant, a “Chicken Delite” franchise. A menu of fried chicken, seafood, BBQ ribs, and beef sandwiches are offered for take-out or free delivery. In 1966, Chicken Delite Franchisee, headquartered in New York tells its franchise operators, pizza will soon be added to all outlets. Equipment requirements and recipe instructions are issued. I grew up going to the original Bronkos and was excited when they opened in Schererville. Today was the second time I was not happy with my pizza. Today I pre-ordered and when I arrived 1.5 hours later the pizza was not ready. I waited another 20 minutes, then went in and grabbed the pizza to get home for the game. After getting home, the pizza was overcooked, some slices burnt. I also paid for extra cheese which was not on there. When I called the restaurant to speak to a manager they never came to the phone. I’m very disappointed in how things were not handled or corrected.
Update: I went up the restaurant and the manager Joe handled the situation. He was very nice and accommodating.

Pizza was cooked perfectly. Dough wasn’t soggy, toppings amount just right, sauce flavor not sweet, just like I remember from years ago. We had the Combination, Bacon Chicken Ranch and the Pepperoni and all three were made and cooked to perfection. I haven’t had a great pizza like this one in a while! Sorry, no pictures because we ate all three pizzas Delicious! We’ll definitely be back!

My family planned a movie night and decided to order takeout from this location. My husband and son both ordered chicken bacon ranch sandwiches and two orders of loaded fries with bacon/cheese. The (frozen) chicken tenders in the sandwiches were overcooked (dry/hard) and the pieces of bacon were mixed between hard/soggy. The best part of the sandwich was the toasted bread. I’d like to add my son is a fan of chicken bacon ranch sandwiches but it was this particular one was so disappointing that he took a couple of bites and trashed the rest. My husband only ate the bread with cheese. Their common frozen fries were topped with pieces of soggy bacon and tons of cheese. This was our first and last time trying out this place out. We were considering ordering pizza from here but we will not be ordering from this business. Do not recommend loaded fries or chicken bacon ranch sandwiches.

Found plastic in between the cheese and dough. Good thing we caught it and just peeled it off. ( You can see plastic wrap in picture)
The dough isn’t fresh at all — it tastes like premade dough with ingredients just thrown on top. There are three big giveaways that it’s premade:
1. There are no bubbles in the dough.
2. It’s a perfectly round pizza with completely even thickness.
3. There are small holes on the bottom of the crust.
Even if a roller was used to prevent bubbles, a fresh dough would still result in an uneven shape.
The ingredients were good, at least.

We picked up a large sausage, green pepper, onion and half black olive pizza and garlic bread with cheese. It was the first time ordering the garlic bread, it was GREAT and we would definitely order it again! The pizza was full of ingredients and wonderful as usual. Bronko’s never fails to make great food!
