I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Broken Yolk is the best breakfast chain in San Diego and the Plaza Bonita location is no different. We went on a Sunday morning and there was about a 30 minute wait, but worth it. Mornings are tough, so we started with a mimosa flight and espresso pumpkintini. For food we had the New York steak & egg and the smoked salmon Benedict. Everything was great. There is a dog friendly outdoor patio. The service was fast and friendly. Recommend!

We sat in the outdoor patio area but shortly regretted our decision as soon as the pigeons started coming! We were fortunate that they did not perch above our table…. but they were above the table next to us. The amount of poop and feathers up there was pretty gross. I hope the owners read this and take some consideration into cleaning that area.

Now for the food…. it was delicious. The service was excellent as well. If you are visiting the mall, I would recommend giving this place a try… just don’t sit outside!

Have you ever seen wait staff sitting around in view of customers? On a Sunday afternoon, on the patio, staff appeared to be disengaged with customers. Our server was quick and to the point. “Mom’s omelette” was dry. Not too tastey. I tried a seasonal pumpkin pancake and it was pretty good, but not that pumpkiny. Potions were fine. Atmosphere too noisy for me.

Usually a great place for breakfast, very pricey but you get what you pay for, they serve large portions!! Arrived around 10am Only waited 5 minutes for a table. This time it was a long wait for the food. Waited about 25 minutes but noticed it wasn’t very warm anymore. Could tell it sat for awhile. The food was delicious but would love to have had it hot! We had the hash skillet that had lots of potatoes and eggs, not very much hash but was still good, also had an avocado, bacon omelette the flavors were so good, just wish it was warm at least. The biscuits and gravy are also really good! Our waiter was very efficient and attentive just very quiet. Hopefully next time won’t wait as long and out food could be hot

Service was too slow at first from getting us seated even tho there’s plenty of seat available ( there’s only 2 tables occupied if I remember it correctly), food took long as well and my food is pretty burnt.
Husband’s food was Okay but not that good. The pancakes are overcooked.
Parking was extremely hard . Not worth the effort to dine. I prolly not be coming back here again. Though the staffs were okay at the end of the day. Ain’t be recommending this place. Pretty expensive for their bad food.

It’s a little pricy, but overall it’s a good choice for breakfast. My daughter and I had the pancake combos- she had the lemon ricotta, and I had the cinna-cakes. I was worried the cinna-cakes would be too sweet, but they were perfect! My husband had a create your own omelet, and it was also good. He was disappointed though that he paid to add sour cream to the omelet and only received a small drizzle on the top of the omelet.
Service was pretty good, and the outside covered patio had a nice vibe. Plenty of free parking since it’s attached to a mall.

Just came for the first time. I got the chicken and biscuits. Unfortunately I didn’t read the menu and realized too late it didn’t come with eggs. Then we ordered pancakes but it had a long hair in it. They remade it but I couldn’t get over it. They didn’t offer to take it off my tab nor a discount. The manager didn’t even come to talk to me until after I asked.
Overall, ihop is just as good for a lot less.

Update: we went back to this place because we had the best breakfast last time. This time, I tried their Ranchero Skillet. Too much potatoes. Didn’t have much chorizo but it was delicious. My sons had Monte Cristo and Churro french toast. They said they were good.

Fast service, kind staff, and amazing food. Our server Ivan was welcoming and friendly, and everything we ordered was top-notch. Their bacon and sausage was actually well-cooked; I don’t know what the IHOPs and Denny’s do to their meat, but it’s almost like they just microwave theirs.

They also didn’t hold back with their toppings—a lot of restaurants nowadays tend to cut back on the amount of ingredients they use, but when they say have stuffed French toast, they really mean STUFFED. Expect a generous helping of mascarpone or whatever comes with your meal.

If Broken Yolk won’t break your wallet, definitely save up for a special day to eat there.

I been coming here since they opened up this restaurant. I have never been disappointed. I think the price is adequate for a San Diego restaurant. Customer service is always great… Now the waiting is hole other story on Sundays… 40 minutes to an hour… But worth the waiting. Order for pickup if you don’t want to wait

I got a table quickly. I had no one server. One walked by and noticed, I didn’t have a drink. So I got my drink order. Ten minutes later, someone finally came to take my food.Order.A different server mind you. Then, I had to ask for my check after I was done.Buy a random server walking by. I have no idea what server was assigned to my table. They never introduced themselves. But the whole time, there were five servers talking by the cash register. While the food was excellent, it came quickly. The service is absolutely terrible. I will definitely think twice before going back.
