We go there for bands, went during their winter fest. And if a good band is playing all year long. Couldn’t make reservations for 6 of us, so had to get there early before it opened to secure a high top and put together so we could all fit. We didn’t want a picnic table.
Waitress was ok, charged us for a drink we didn’t get, nit duoer friendly, and would not give us separate checks ( 3 couples). That makes zero sense since if we each had our own table, we’d all have separate checks! Had to sit and figure out who pays what!
A $10 cover charge for this winter fest but the day we went was free.

I just saw this online, so we drove an hour away from home to get here. We came night time, the food was just simple, the lady who assessed us was pretty good and attentive. I would say, must better to go here daytime, for it’s beautiful ambiance.

Such a cool live music venue. Right on the water watching the sunset, multiple bands a day and such a great vibe. People seem genuinely happy around you at this place. People are dancing and singing and so friendly! Love coming here

Mediocre bar food, but very nice venue. Indoor/outdoor seating right on the river. Even a screened-in outdoor area. Burger was the Monday special for $8. Frozen patty, unfortunately, but good bun and French fries. Also didnt have sliced pickles, so I had to put spears on my burger lol. Good cheese curds!

I stopped in to grab lunch, bringing my employee and my fiancee along with me. My employee forgot his ID card at home so we were asked to move from the bar (not a big deal, they have a job to do.) The server was not polite upon asking and treated all three of us as if we were her children, even though the three of us are all the same age. (Which is 27y old, mind you.)

Skip to the main part; I ordered my typical double jack and coke in a short glass. I was presented with what tasted like strictly coca cola, and I know what a double should taste like. I asked about the $15 charge for the double and was answered with a 5-year old’s response explaining that “it’s just the way the system rings things up..” excuse me? A double was $9.50… there was an additional $4.75 linked to the same line item for the drink so I asked about it. None of which makes sense.. especially considering I got less than a double poor.

Now, the food: I ordered a $24 bowl of “lobster mac” – EXTREMELY Dissatisfied and disappointed with the meal. There were two very small chunks of lobster tail in a giant PUDDLE of cheese with noodles. Just a big bowl of Mac and cheese SOUP. My complaint isn’t about the price; I knew what to expect before I walked into the place. But for $24 you’d think I would get a few more chunks of lobster. Nope, just 2 bite size pieces to disappoint the night. The server did not take us seriously as adults and I highly do NOT recommend coming here if toure looking for hospitality and good times. They’re as strict as a prison and expect you to cater into their weird ambiance. Mind you, we were not there during a crowded time. There were maybe 10 people total in the establishment, including servers.

I wish I could give a more negative review.

Beautiful fall day for a ride to one of the coolest marina bars in the area. A must see in the fall. Not crowded and beautiful views of the river and trees.

Always a great place for music, food, drinks, and great music like Kashmir, Led Zeppelin Tribute band. Kashmir play at the Broken Oar regularly and quite the crowd pleaser! Great scenery with the Marina view off the Fox River!

Broken Oar’s Arctic Winter Bar is one of the most magical winter experiences in the Chicago suburbs! We visited during the day with our family, and it was the perfect mix of festive, cozy, and fun. The whole pop-up feels like a holiday village along the Fox River – twinkling lights, warm décor, and the incredible heated “Broken Barn” that made it so easy to enjoy the space even on a cold day.

The food was fantastic! We loved the burgers, chili, pretzel bites, and wings – real comfort food that hit the spot. Their seasonal cocktails are also amazing. Highly recommend the Winter White Russian and Jack Frost for anyone visiting without kids.

What really makes this place special is how family-friendly it is during the daytime. Our kids loved the atmosphere, and we never felt rushed. It’s such a unique winter activity for families looking to do something festive outside the typical holiday events.

Staff was friendly, the vibe was great, and the entire experience felt warm and welcoming from start to finish. If you’re looking for a cozy winter outing in Chicagoland, Broken Oar’s Arctic Winter Bar is a must!
