The bartender was great. Friendly, fast, and clearly knows their craft. Best shrimp tacos I’ve had in a long time, perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The service was top-notch from start to finish, and the atmosphere is unbeatable super laid-back, lively, and full of character. You can tell this place is loved for a reason. Highly recommend and will absolutely be back.

I wanted to love this food. My appetizer and oysters were delicious BUT my sampler platter that I got to go went into the trash. Everything was so mushy and non eatable. I’m not sure if it was because I got it to go. Either way, I did like the atmosphere and my server was welcoming and attentive.

I finally made it back to Broadway Oyster Bar, and man… it had been way too long.

First off, the vibe—unchanged in the best way possible. That gritty, funky, old-school New Orleans soul is still alive and well. The decor is classic, lived-in, and authentic. You walk in and immediately feel like you’ve been dropped somewhere just off Bourbon Street.

Service? On point.
Ashley was behind the bar and greeted me right away. Fast, efficient, professional—exactly what you want when you’re hungry and ready to roll.

Now let’s talk food, because this is where the magic happens:

Shrimp Voodoo – BOOM. Big flavor, perfectly cooked shrimp, rich sauce, no shortcuts.

Uncle Charlie’s Creole Jambalaya – Deep, bold, layered Cajun flavor. This is the kind of dish that tells stories.

Alligator Cheesecake – Yep. You read that right. Unique, savory, and surprisingly addictive. Total wildcard that delivers.

Every single dish was spot on. No misses. No maybes.

By the end of the meal, I wasn’t in St. Louis anymore—I was straight up in New Orleans, beads and brass bands included.

Bottom line:
If you’ve never been, you need to go.
If you have been but it’s been a minute—go back.
Broadway Oyster Bar is still doing it right, still cooking with soul, and still serving food that punches way above its weight.

This place isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience.

A little New Orleans in St Louis! Everything about Broadway Oyster Bar is terrific. The place itself is very casual & eclectic. There’s a bar area Inside, an inside dining area, & an outdoor patio dining area that has its own bar & live music… reminded me of places you would find on Bourbon Street. The menu is pretty diverse but has a lot of dishes that New Orleans is known for. I went specifically for the oysters and they did not disappoint. it was excellent super fresh the best part they were clean no sand. Got half dozen raw and half chard. I recommend to do it that way. Service was amazing our waitress was a little pregnant laddie she was so funny and on point. 100% recommend!

Have been wanting to try this spot for quite some time. The live music was great. Where we were seated you could hear it being performed but not overwhelming. Our server was very friendly and answered all of our questions. Would highly recommend visiting if you havent. A touch of New Orleans right here in St Louis.

Such a wonderful, eclectic place! Loved the atmosphere, the service was amazing, and the food… oh, the food. Gumbo, jambalaya, red beans & rice, crawfish etouffee (all in a sampler platter), and shrimp & grits… SO GOOD.
Tip: watch your step; there are slightly different levels all over, but it just adds to the charm. 🙂 (and the manager will give you a bandaid if you happen to sub your toe like I did) 😉

Had a shrimp po’ boy at Broadway Oyster Bar and it did not disappoint. The sandwich was amazing and the place has a ton of character, fun atmosphere, unique vibe, and surprisingly no wait even with a party of seven.

The only downside was the drink service. Refills were slow, and one person in our group didn’t get his drink until after the food was already out.

Overall though, great food and a cool spot. Would definitely go back. Just hoping the service tightens up a bit.
