The Dining Grandpa
Broadway Diner – A Small-Town Gem with Hearty Comfort Food

Broadway Diner, located at 426 E Broadway St. in a small strip mall, is a quaint and cozy spot offering good food and friendly service. The chairs and booths show some wear, and the interior is a bit dated, but it all adds to its small-town charm.

I arrived around 11 a.m. to meet my son and his work buddy for lunch. It wasn’t overly busy, but there was a steady stream of customers and a few DoorDash pickups while I was there. Since I was hungry, I ordered before they arrived—trying a little of everything since it was my first visit.

My meal included fried green tomatoes, three scrambled eggs, country fried steak, fried potatoes, sausage links, toast, and a small dish of sausage gravy. The country fried steak was solid, and the sausage gravy was excellent, pairing perfectly with the toast. The fried potatoes, however, were too thin—more like crunchy potato chips than the hearty, pan-fried style I expected.

When my son and his buddy arrived, they both ordered Roast Beef Manhattans. Their plates looked great, and they said the brown gravy really made the dish.

If there’s one downside, it’s that the kitchen is slow. The food was worth the wait, but it definitely took some time.

Overall, Broadway Diner is a nice little spot with good food, friendly service, and a homey atmosphere. Worth a visit if you’re in the area—just be patient with the kitchen.

The food was real good. It would have been a 5 star review if they had a kiosk to order from so you dont have to inconvenience the waitress.

I absolutely love this place! Cheap but very good homemade food. . Great service. It’s not fancy, just a great down to earth, come as you are type of place.

I was visiting my son in Greenfield and we started musing about food that we missed. I mentioned “broasted chicken”. He searched on his phone it comes up with the Broadway Diner in Fortville. It’s only 7 miles away. He never heard of it and he’s lived here for 15 years. I said I’ll head up there and get some takeout. I found the place…it doesn’t exist on the GPS because a street was closed but I figured out it should be in Broadway Plaza. I walked into the diner…I’m a veteran and 79 years old…it reminded me of an American Legion post in the late 60s…in a good way. It was a diner…a hole in the wall local diner..I said to myself “I like this place”. A nice waitress asked me what I’d like. I told her broasted chicken dinner to go with broasted potatoes as the side. Got it she said. It took the time to broast a 12 piece dinner about 20-25 minutes…the order came out hot! When I got back home…the food did not disappoint. The chicken was hot, juicy and delicious. Worth the drive and the wait. I also snagged piece of strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert. It was a good choice. The Broadway Diner in Fortville,IN…a pretty good secret among the locals.

I ordered sloppy Joe through DoorDash and it was incorrect. Adam, the manager gave me platinum service Their restaurant is 30 minutes from my job and instead of me having to deal with DoorDash, he made my food correctly and delivered it in a Uber. I genuinely have never had service this great

Literally the WORST service I have ever experienced. My husband and I got there at 9 and left at 9:55- when we left I overheard the waitress tell the kitchen to not bother making food since we were leaving. THEY HADN’T EVEN STARTED MAKING IT? People got served before us and even then it might’ve been 3 people in that entire hour.

I fully blame the kitchen that is absurd- standing and talking and getting orders wrong? Don’t bother stopping in

I was greeted by a friendly waitress who told me to sit wherever I liked. I ordered the Down Home Favorites 2 scrambled eggs with sausage links and dry wheat toast. I use jelly on my toast. Everything was served hot. Sometimes the eggs or sausage links come lukewarm because they precook them. Everything was prepared to order. Everything tasted delicious. Dana was the waitress and her service was excellent. She let me know I can pay at the table. Dana brought over a handheld device which made the check out process quick and easy. This is a tasty local diner.

Stumbled across the little dinner by pure accident. Got off 69 to turn around and head back towards Muncie to eat.
I didn’t have allot of hopes for this plus but to my surprise it was clean, super friendly welcoming environment. The menu has your old time favorites a very wide variety of choices for no bigger than the place was.

The double decker cheeseburger may honestly be the biggest juicyiest cheeseburger I’ve ever had in my life. The tots I received were honestly perfect and I mean perfect crispness.
I don’t know this dinner and I rarely ever leave a review for any place unless it’s a 1 star… but honestly i want to go back to try the 3 alarm bugar and a “wet” tenderloin.

I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a nice old fashioned diner.

This place is decent if you have time. Not a quick place to eat. They are slow. Food is ok but not great.
