I have eaten here the past and really enjoyed it, but not so much this time.
They used to serve Brie with pears, which was delicious. That has changed to a charred Brie with almonds and a honey raspberry glaze. We ordered that and it was very good. The bread that came with it was hard yet chewy, though, an unfortunate accompaniment to the Brie.
Main dish 1 was the meatloaf Wellington. It was all around terrible. Undercooked filo dough surrounded old meatloaf with the tiniest, perfectly round scoop of cafeteria mashed potatoes on the side. The side of peas tasted previously frozen.
Main dish 2 was the beef stew. Stew was ok but should not be served on the bread bowl. The bread did not seem fresh and soaked up too much of the stew.
Service was adequate.
Live music was mediocre and did not seem to suit the atmosphere.

Recommendation from our hotel as a pet friendly spot. I went 2 days in a row.

Day 1- Great. 2 piece fish and chips with beans and mac – cheese.

The server was great , I tried to get one blackened and one fried, that was a no, he did ask. The fish was very good and the batter didn’t overpower the flavor of the cod. I was also impressed with the green beans , amazing flavor combo. The mac – cheese was also better than most places with a creamy texture and smooth cheesy flavor.

Day 2 – I came back for the Guinness Stew, I was alone night one with the Aussies and it was represented as a large portion.

Small Brussel Sprout appetizer was a good start.

Sriracha BBQ Meatballs were amazing hit. Very flavorful and I will make these at home

The Brie was a miss. Not much Brie lots of sweetness, minimal chips and a price tag that made it very much not worth it.

The Guinness Stew was lackluster. A small sourdough round with some stew in it. It was missing that rich Guinness flavor and thick broth I love and salt didn’t fix missing layers I was excited to taste.

The price made this dish a huge miss. We talked about that the rest of the night.

2 Prime Rib dinners medium rare were tender, not very well seasoned, sometimes its good to leave the meat the star, we had AuJus and Horseradish for added flavor. More mac – cheese , not very warm, but good nonetheless.

Peas and carrots, were okay.

The busser spilled the Aujus on my boyfriend’s lap cleaning up the dishes, no one said anything, I’ll get that stain out.

They were out of Apple Cobbler, sad face there.

They did take it off of our bill and rerun the card. The manager came out to explain the way that works, pending charges and all, that was a plus.

The warm chocolate cake we also ordered was rich and moist, it had some whip cream with it, next time we would add ice cream if ordered again.

Not sure I would go back here, our bill was $167 dollars plus tip ( Our waiter was solid) = $207

I almost never write reviews. My husband and I frequent several restaurants and this past weekend we were pleasantly delighted with the food and service of The British Open Pub. Of course it was packed when we arrived on Friday night. We wanted to enjoy the nice weather outside and our party was seated relatively fast. My husband and I had the grandkids for the weekend and we try to take them to different restaurants to broaden their taste buds to something other than the typical chicken fingers, burgers, and fries. We were greeted promptly by our server Louann. She went over dinner specials and took our drink order. She told us that Ian would be bringing out our drinks. Which he did shortly after and introduced himself and said he would give us time to look over the menu. Then Louann returned to our table. She asked us if we would like to start with an appetizer, which we did. We opted for Scotch Eggs and Onion Rings. She suggested 2 orders of the eggs for our party of 5 which was perfect. For dinner we had 3 orders Fish & Chips, Creamy Garlic Salmon, Shrimp & Grits. Fish was perfectly fried and the creamy garlic sauce on the salmon was a delicious touch. The boys were a little shocked by heads on the prawns for the Shrimp & Grits dinner. It definitely made for some laughs and good conversation trying it for their first time. Wasn’t their favorite but it was something new. Throughout our meal, we were checked on several times by both Louann and Ian. We also noticed that the patio was overflowing with customers. In which Louann and Ian were very attentive and interacted with every table making sure everyone’s drink, not just ours, was full and everyone was enjoying themselves. Sometimes as customers, we only pay attention to what is going on with our own table, unaware of how busy the servers and restaurant staff actually are. Louann and Ian were great, both friendly, informative, and personable. The two were definitely the dynamic duo that made our dining experience exceptional! Great food! Cold drinks! A+ service! Kudos to you British Open Pub!

Outstanding food. The meatloaf wellington is delish. Liver and onions was flavorful and most tender. We wrapped up with a Nutty Irish Coffee that was balanced and a great finish. Our waitress, Jordan, was fantastic, engaging, and attentive. She’s a great asset to this restaurant and I’ve if the reasons we’ll go back.
