Reviews
We got lucky and they were able to squeeze us in (apparently they only take reservations via phone).
– The staff was professional and fun.
– House decor and atmosphere was outstanding.
– Food 10/10.
– Nice neighborhood as well.
Everything that came to the table was 10/10. Don’t miss the opportunity to eat here.
Restaurant itself is in an older and dated house but don’t let you fool you. The 40 years of experience coming out of the kitchen is what you’re there for.
Bbq shrimp with shrimp calas
Shrimp bisque
Gulf fish entree
Blackened tuna entree
Shrimp, jalapeño cornbread
It’s a bit pricey and you need a reservation but it’s definitely worth it for the experience. Never felt rushed.
One member of our party had some dietary restrictions, and the waitress really did not seem to care. That person ended up not eating because of this. It felt like the waitress spent most of the night seemingly flirting with a table of women than actually waiting. Whenever she did eventually decide to do her job, she always had a Karen attitude and was just going through the motions. There was always an edge to her, and we could never figure out why.
The food itself was just okay, so if you feel like spending $32 on a mediocre entree in one of the best culinary cities in the US, then this is your place.
The real “highlight” of our meal was the french bread, but you won’t get this for free like at most New Orleans restaurants. Oh no, we somehow ended up with a $7 charge for this, and no, the waitress did not tell us 🙂
If you’re a tourist (or even a local for that matter), do not waste one of your meals on Brigtsen’s. From the snobby vibes to our Karen waitress, you’re best finding your way to a cheaper and better establishment in this great city. What a disappointment indeed.
