As I was by myself, I sat at the bar. Atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, music started as Prince and various other 80s and earlier artists, then changed to smooth jazz as the evening moved on.
Will definitely come again on any future visits and would highly recommend.
Joshua and Jamie were absolutely delightful and amazing, very attentive and friendly.
Overall price was a bit higher than expected for the area, but I still enjoyed the experience.
I’m giving it four stars only because of the food. I’m very picky, and for me to give a five-star review, I need at least one dish on the menu that I crave and want to order again and again. Their food isn’t bad at all—it’s just not something I personally crave. I’m vegetarian, and while they do offer options, none of them are extraordinary enough to make me want to return specifically for the food.
That said, it’s still a great spot, and I also go there because their mixed drinks are phenomenal. I really love their craft cocktails and the presentation—they’re very well made, and I’m very picky about my craft cocktails. Brightwater is definitely a place to enjoy drinks, the view, and the overall experience.
The place boasts an extensive wine list and seems more focused on drinks and cocktails rather than traditional food. However, it’s worth noting that the beer selection is quite limited.
When it comes to the food, be prepared for small portion sizes, so you might not leave feeling completely full. That said, the dishes are unique, with noticeable experimentation in flavors. One downside, however, is the lack of customization options. For instance, I find it odd that when you request to replace chips with any other side for a burger, there’s no flexibility at all.
We started off with a nice brighwaters Irish maid, and it’s a must-have. We opted for a mushroom toast, which is highly recommended, and I’m glad I ordered it, their steak tartar followed by a duck confit sandwich and their black pepper beef and onion. Food is amazing, but portions are in a smaller size, so make sure to order more.
Where do I start the libations were glorious. The Brightwaters Sunset was a taste of a beautiful sunset if that is possible. Light in flavor with a bold presentation making it beautiful and even easier to sip down. Usual 8oz on the rocks and well worth the $18 price point. I mean come on the Luxardo Maraschino Cherries on the metal toothpick were like sweet chocolate in my mouth.
Our appetizer of the Flamande Flatbread was too die for. Small pizza, I would say it was a 7.5″-8″ round cut into 8 small pieces. It was perfectly portioned in a delicious white sauce, caramelized onion and italian bacon sliced aka prosciutto on their homemade flatbread . It was amazing . I believe this bread recipe along with the complimentary bread they give you when you arrive are recently brought in recipes from Italy by the owner, whom I had the honor of chatting with at the end of my evening. She had recently traveled to Europe. This woman is a master food pairer and interior design queen to which she carriers a degree in Interior design.
To the finale…the Duck Sandwich . Cofit Duck, gruyere, Dijon, wild arugula, duck dressing on house made! Ciabatta served With a small side of course law . I took the liberty of throwing that on top of half of my sandwich that I was sharing with my friend. It was divine. I believe it was pickled carrots possibly cucumber and onions , absolutely divine. I suggest you try that if you choose to get the duck sandwich.
Overall this was a lovely evening. With a different feeling than the normal downtown Huntington Beach vibe this place is definitely meant for adults. This is not a place you come and get wild and crazy it’s a place to come quietly chat and enjoy the beautiful light breezy French style ambiance and take in all the delicious foods. I don’t suggest bringing children in as this is an upscale atmosphere meant for adults unless, they’re well behaved. This coming from a mother herself.
I highly recommend Brightwaters and almost want to keep it as my dirty little secret. Thank-you Anne for such an amazing gem you’ve built in my hometown. I can’t wait to see you and chat again. I’d love to do lunch and learn more about you and your business.
Craft cocktails.
