I haven’t eaten here since I lived here as a teenager 35 years ago and I can say they are every bit as good now as they were then. I loved coming to eat here as a teen.
The hot dogs covered in chili and cheese are phenomenal! If you don’t do that to your fries, you have to go with vinegar on them. Delicious! So glad the wife didn’t eat all of her fries so I can get the vinegar to eat them with. Score!

The people are awesome, food is good, don’t get me wrong. But, the hot dogs are TOO SMALL. I felt like the tootsie pop owl, “How many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop? Let’s see, one, two-hoo, three”. My dog was gone in three.

Food is good. It’s a bit pricy for the portion size. All in all it still is a good meal that has a collector cup, that takes the sting of the prices away.

For a hot dog, hamburger & french fries joint, this is the best. Not fancy ‐‐ at all. But unique… think 1950s/1960s diner. Fast service. polite & friendly employees. You don’t have to wait 10 years to get a tasty, filling lunch at a extremely reasonable price & you want to come back again. It’s a blue-collar tradesman’s lunch haven. 5 stars overall.

I’ve eaten at franchises for Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe but I’ve never eaten at the original location. I was in the area so I decided to try it out. Fast and friendly service and I enjoyed the hotdogs

Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe is an absolute legend! Since 1959, they’ve been serving up hot dogs with a consistency in quality and taste that’s simply unmatched. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and it’s truly remarkable how every bite takes me back. Their chili is phenomenal – it pairs perfectly with that incredible cheese sauce. And don’t even get me started on their pasta chili; it’s a must-try! The thin-cut fries are always fresh and crispy. While they’re famous for their dogs and chili cheese, do yourself a favor and try a griddled burger – pure delight!
And don’t forget, Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe also serves breakfast! Their giant, delicious pancakes are a must-try, and they offer a fantastic variety of omelettes to choose from.
Plus, their themed cups are a local staple – you can’t open a cupboard in town without seeing one. And for some reason, their Mountain Dew just hits different! Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a piece of local history.

The historic Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe! The BHDS was well-established in the area as far back as I can remember (like, the mid 70’s.) My wife and I had to stop in since we were in town. It was even better than we remembered! Delicious hot dogs, creamy milk shakes, and a Brobdingnagian helping of French fries. Our server, Jennifer, was extremely friendly and sweet. If you’re in New Brighton (or near any of their locations) stop in for a bite to eat, you’ll be happy you did.
