The evening started with the “Mock and Roll” mocktail, a bright and refreshing mix of muddled blueberries, strawberries, and mint with fresh lime juice and ginger beer. It is one of those drinks that makes you forget there is no alcohol in it, balanced, vibrant, and full of flavor. Warm rolls followed, paired with whipped butter that practically melted on contact. A small touch, but one that instantly makes a place feel welcoming.

Before diving into entrées, John tried the French onion soup. It arrived bubbling hot, topped with a golden layer of melted Gruyère that gave way to a rich, deeply flavored broth beneath. The caramelized onions were sweet and tender, and the toasted bread soaked up every bit of savory goodness. It is a comforting classic, done exactly right.

For me, Thai chicken satay came next, the skewers perfectly grilled and served with crisp Asian slaw, carrots, and a rich, spicy peanut sauce that hit all the right notes.

My main course, drunken salmon, showcased the kitchen’s sense of balance: bourbon-marinated salmon glazed with honey and ginger, resting on a bed of cilantro rice and stir-fried vegetables. The flavors played together beautifully, comfort food with just enough flair to feel special.

John ordered the steak Benedict, and it was a showstopper. Perfectly seared steak medallions topped with poached eggs and velvety hollandaise, all served on toasted English muffins. The richness of the sauce paired with the tender meat made it a hearty, indulgent plate that easily rivals any brunch favorite.

Dessert was the kind of ending you hope for. Their carrot cake earns its local fame with layers of moist spice cake, sweet cream cheese icing, and a scattering of walnuts for texture. It is indulgent but not heavy, the kind of dessert that keeps you thinking about the next visit.

A word of gratitude to Bill, our server, whose 35 years of restaurant experience were evident in every detail. His attentiveness and genuine warmth elevated the meal beyond the plate.

Brighton Bar and Grill, at 400 West Main Street in downtown Brighton, continues to be a cornerstone of the local dining scene. Family-owned and freshly reimagined in 2018, it strikes that sweet spot between polished and relaxed. With ties to Bourbons in Brighton and a kitchen led by a chef with Hell’s Kitchen credentials, the team brings both passion and precision to every dish. Their ongoing expansion into nearby New Hudson only reinforces that this is not just a restaurant, it is a growing story of hospitality done right.

Some family, friends and I, came in to Brighton bar and Grill because it was one of our loved ones favorite place and our loved one had passed away on January 1. She is a leap year baby so she would typically celebrate her birthday on February 28. Now I have came to Brighton bar and Grill many times, but this was definitely the time that has made me look at them as more than just a great restaurant. We had asked them if they could add an extra chair in representation of the loved one that we had lost. They immediately said yes, we are going to take care of it, and they did from that moment on. They made our experience extra special. From the amazing waitress that we had that was so empathetic to the special occasion that we were celebrating to them bringing us cake with a candle on the house. More than all of that, the sheer kindness and genuine care that the staff gave us for that short period of time has taken Brighton bar and Grill from being one of my favorite restaurants to just truly a very special place in my heart forever❤️

Great dining experience, take your time and enjoy the food, the drink, the service and the enviroment. A great bar and great menu. I could just have the fried calimari for dinner with a drink and be content.

This was my first time, but one of our guests is a semi regular and suggested this as a good downtown Brighton lunch spot, and a good suggestion it was! We arrived early before the rest of the lunch rush and were seated promptly outdoors. Our server was friendly and fast until her section filled up, and then was still more than adequate. The food we all had was tasty and as expected. The real treat for me was the tenderloin tips appetizer. I was excited for the open faced pot roast, but it was just adequate and needed more gravy/ sauce and better plating.

Best restaurant in Brighton. Recommend the garlic platter, lamb chops, roast beef, chicken piccata, louisiana pasta and carrot cake.

Also, they have 2 delicious VEGAN options: Curry noodles and quinoa stirfry (both delish).

Very nice restaurant, clean. Our waiter Bill was awesome. Very attentive. Very on task. He knew the menu and suggestions were excellent. It was my birthday lunch and and we got a free dessert. That was awesome. The food was delicious. Starting with the calamari. And yellow banana peppers. That was a twist. Aunt bread basket with butter. It’s fabulous. Tomato soup and chicken salad croissant was very delicious.

Awesome curry pasta. Excellent vegan option. Others loved their food as well. Unfortunately server did not know if rolls were vegan. No complaints otherwise.

When I hear a restaurant’s name include the words, “bar and grill”, I don’t have high expectations. However, this place was incredible! The calamari was one of the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve ordered it at dozens of places. The steak tips appetizer was delicious, but a rather small portion. Salmon was beautifully cooked, and all the other food by our group was wonderful. We also experienced great service from the staff.

They have good food, but the service was just terrible. An older lady with outdated haircut didn’t check on us once. Not even to ask if we liked the food that some other waitress brought to us. No complementary bread that we used to get, or even to check on our drinks. My husband still left $12 tip on our $60 bill that she definitely didn’t deserve and shouldn’t get.

My wife and I eat here enough to know that the food and service is consistently solid. We’ve never had a bad meal. Its nice because they seem to have a more family friendly side as well as a quieter and more intimate side to the restaurant.
Tonight Melissa was helping us and she was fantastic! She paired a wine for dinner that was prefect and was always around but not intrusive. A great night.
